Interesting take by the coaches. Pleased Bowey was recognised and Viney was our standout. I thought Haines played a great game as did the coaches. 2nd week in a row the Intercept defender in the opposition backline has thwarted us. There is one glaring hole in our so-called super-defensive forward line. The plan isn't working

Any idea how many votes Viney is on?

Seems to poll every week and yet isn't on the leader board. Would have at least 19 alone in the Collingwood and GWS games alone.

Sneaky All Aust 40 squad this year?

Josh Kelly just always seems to lift against us and is rarely sighted for the rest of the season. It’s more than a coincidence now . Id love to understand the motivation, because it definitely is there.

10, 3 and 9 in the last three games is a pretty phenomenonal rating for Viney.

Given he has a well-earned reputation for rising to big occasions, I suspect he at least is one player on our list acutely aware of what has been at stake these last few games.

Unfortunately I think there's a couple of guys who are content 'doing their thing' rather than really pushing that extra level.

For example, Nibbler's pangolin impression has me suspecting that he's happy with doing that much and geting the breakeven stoppage; doesn't feel the need to actually beat his opponent.

I also suspect Hunter, despite being very busy and reasonably good overall, is a bit too content to do his favourite tricky trick with the bounce handballs without really worrying too much about whether it is the best option for both reward or risk.

That's a digression, but emphasises the point that really, everyone needs to be more Viney.

Really? Rarely sighted? He's averaging 30 touches a game. Had 41 against the Lions and 33 and 3 goals against Freo.

To be fair no one notices GWS players unless playing against their side. The exception is when Toby Green creates another outrage.

I think Petracca is on 17 Brownlow votes now. None in the last 2 weeks.

I have Petracca third in my Brownlow Medal predictions, on 18.2 votes.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
