In the annual Geelong vs Melbourne clash at the taxpayer funded building site on Corio Bay, the Demon midfield led by Jack Viney, Christian Petraca and Clayton Oliver (until Selwood broke his thumb) all played strongly but the team was overrun in the final term.

Dangerfield and Selwood were two of their best that night, if we can restrict those two we will go a long way to winning. Whats that you say their nor playing.

We trained all pre season to create a game plan to nullify the Strengths of 3 teams Swans, Pies and Cats.

Time to complete the trifecta and send a message to those corrupt pen pushing, tax payer stadium rorting, draft rule changing, brown bag hiding suits down the highway that last year was a aberration.

We are coming to get Feral land to take back what is rightfully ours and there ain't a thing that is going to stop us.

Three factors that can only improve our prospects:

1) Danger was influential and C Guthrie received 2 brownlow votes with 28 and 2 gls. Neither are playing.

2) Our ruck duo were really poor that night. Gawn returned from injury and had no impact while Jackson was invisible with his stock standard 1 mark a game that defined his woeful 2022 season. I'd like to think our current duo will take more than 1 mark between them and have influence.

3) We came into the corresponding game on a 5 day break coming off a win in Adelaide. We're surely much fresher with 1 game of football between 3 June and 22 June.

However, we have a 15% success rate at GMHBA since 2000 so I'm not getting my hopes up too much.

We had a 15% success rate everywhere since 2000, at least up to 2018. 😄

Melbourne were awful that night and I thought it showed the quality of the team to be within 6 points midway through the 4th. If only Pickett hadn't hit the post.

There best players that night were Duncan, Danger, Guthrie and Atkins. Duncan a shadow of that player, Danger surely doesnt play, neither does Guthrie and Atkins no longer at that level.

All things considered, its our best chance to beat them down there that I can ever remember. 2021 was a toss of the coin and 2015 was the biggest shock win we had under Roos. Yet, its still Kardinia Park bowling alley and champion teams get up for games like this.

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
