Unless we can land a Larkey, Naughton or King, an A grade tall, I reckon we'll go for mids or small forwards this year.

Talent is out there I guess, just have to find it. 

Disappointing news for us but I’m happy for Norf. 
It’s always good when big talent sticks around at smaller clubs.

That’s a bummer. He was probably the best key forward available and is a real talent. If he wasn’t playing in a rubbish team he’s be Coleman material.

Larkey off the table and probably Naughton and Ben King. Tom De Koning  if he can be a key forward is priced out as well.

I wouldn’t bring in any mature key forward unless he is a regular best 22.

Certainly would draft another and develop Jefferson and Verrall.

If there was a best 22 key forward we could get next year, then absolutely.

Still wonder how gettable Himmelberg is and what he could potentially do for us. RFA end of this year, has had 38 and 36 goal seasons and can swing back as well. 

All comes down to if he fits our system and salary, he could help us.

Personally I would prefer topping up from this years draft we need another tallish mid with high footy IQ, a tall forward/ ruck, plus another tall back and hopefully Kynan Brown if he makes the grade. We need to complement Petty, JVR, Jefferson, Verrall and Addams. Happy to bring forward our 1st and 2nd rounders from 2024 to trade up a few spots to get what we need. This is  supposedly a Super Draft so let’s take advantage of our trade hand and help set ourselves for the next 5 years.!!!

Most of us have theorised that we will trade up for high end draft picks but perhaps we will shift one, or some, of those picks for ready made player(s).

I'd say Jake Riccardi is one to monitor, and please don't say I'm only noticing because he just kicked 5 against Freo! I understand that was an unusual game for him. He's a worker, not a star.

He's got a big body at 195cm and 97kg, and can take contested marks and compete for contests.

But what I love is that he has got a good defensive and pressure work ethic - his tackles inside 50 rate is top 25 in the AFL, and slightly ahead of Kade Chandler just to put some punctuation on it.

This was also the feature that made Tom McDonald so valuable at his best, and mitigated the downside of his poorer games.

Riccardi will be 24 by the end of the year and could be a very cost-effective role-player.

A future tall forward group of Van Rooyen - Riccardi - Jefferson would seem like a quality full deck to me. Plenty of contests, leads and hunting. Plenty for the small forwards to work with and Fritsch can find a way to use them all as decoys, I'm sure!

Grundy is a mobile player, not a key target, Gawn is better (as in, more magnificent) around the ground than forward, and Petty has his best future clocking up All-Australian seasons leading our defence for a decade to come.

Maybe some of these side gigs like Traccs cooking show and Max's media gigs are offsetting salary cap pressure! :)

Would be good but wont be cheap and will probably stay.  Can't recall too many good ones leaving the Bombers.

Apart from Hibbo these players are all contracted until 2024 so that can't be part of the consideration in Cal Thomey's cap space comment.

I think we balanced contract length with price. 

Trac, Clarry and Gus probably took less money for longer contracts. The security of 5-7 years is rare in the AFL but we are seeing it more and more in an effort to manage the cap with top end stars. It’s a win win for club and player.
