This. Except in a much nicer way, and not disparaging birds of any kind.

Better to let Grundy and BB do the ruck, give Gawn a break, he's tried.

You do mean “tired” right?

I love the phrase monkey's uncle. Is that a Lion King one?

Sounds like he's been tried and convicted without a chance to defend himself!

He sure is trying out there.

I think it was around long before that since my grandad used to say it and he’d be like 1000 years old were he alive today. 😁

‘Trying’ in this instance being an adjective or a verb?

Well for the Disney/Video/Iidiot generation we learned it from movies like this!

Interested to see how Joel Smith goes about it tonight.

Hope he clunks a few and can apply some tackling pressure when it goes to ground.

We need to find our system and method tonight going forward.

You callin’ me old, Layz?

edit: before you answer that, know that I’m on my third coffee already and as is the case every GameDay, my hair-trigger emotions are off the charts and I will hunt you down and it won’t be pretty. K? K!

Taking the mickey by the way @WalkingCivilWar would never question El Capitano.

Lets go with adjective for those playing at home.

You must be a kid. Common in old Hollywood movies and early American TV.

Time for Max to take this game by the scruff of the kneck! Just been going since he's been back & we really do need him at his best.

For me, he's our barometer tonight & If he gets going & starts clunking them around the ground like we know he can, then it'll go along way to setting up this game in our favour.

If Carlton deny us marking the footy, we'll be in trouble.

Dees by a couple

No just your grandad! But don't worry, one of mine would have been 125 y.o a few days ago.

I've gone on another of my famous coffee bans 🙃

I'm a good kid though, ask anyone.

Not sure what to do about this game whether to start drinking early or later and finish with a flourish

Start drinking early is always the preferred option fd !

Coffee ban? Why? WHY??????

Yeah nah, good luck with that Layz. Wish I could do the same. I would except there’d likely be a spike in random homicides in the western suburbs.

I'm running a marathon today and feel it's analogous to our season. Currently in the early winter slump, going ok but slightly out of sorts, I hope by the time I cross the finish line (5pm-ish) there will be some beers lined up at the golf club and I can celebrate in style and watch the Dees tonight.

We're just grinding out the marathon at the moment. Each km marker (game) is merely a snapshot at the present time as to how the team was feeling... it's not a predictor of the end result. There is going to be a lot of hurt and joy both on an individual and team level over the next 12 rounds... and then the next season begins.

The saying has been around since the 1800s and was a sarcastic response to Darwin's Theory of Evolution.

Well Polly wants a cracker because this is either a ‘BBB is done’ situation or ‘he can only play 10 AFL games a year’ situation.

I don’t understand it and I am worried more for JVR who is running about trying to play to where they are kicking it and looks so lost from time to time. Gawn and Grundy play like they ‘chip in’ to the forwards as a favour and we don’t have someone to the tough work now that TMac is out.

Unless we suddenly move the ball better - get ready for more frustration and as many I50s as points…

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
