Questions in advance:

- Does Grundy train?

- Is Oliver going to do the similar run through work to last week and does it look like the loads are increasing?

- Are there many ground ball drills and 'in close' stuff?

- Is BBB or Schache out there?

A friend of mine saw Oliver doing run throughs at about 75% pace at Gosch's on Saturday before the game. Said he looked unhampered and looked like he could play next week. Just a random observation though.

Yeah, saw the same. Looked pretty unencumbered with some ‘ball use run throughs’ so basically, ball kicked in front, pick it up at pace, then pick it up to the left, then right, then pick it up in square, u turn and hit a target - he did that as well as most humans.

But he is a bit more than that now isn’t he

He is progressing through by the sound of it, but it will be the full tilt running, rapid acceleration, deceleration loading that’ll determine match readiness. 3 weeks is a minor hammy whether we risk it 3.5 or so will be interesting. If he does a major one it could be season ending so a big call either way.

Absolutely 0 chance we risk Oliver this week given the sheer amount of injuries Carlton have, plus how bad they are playing.
KB tho….

I would be interested to hear if there are any forward delivery drills that involve the talls actually spreading and smalls in crumbing positions instead of our norm of all flying in each other’s way.

I'd be interested to hear if anyone hits a target under a small amount of pressure and if a forward leading to mark the ball isn't impeded by his own team?

I know where you are coming from but that never happens on game day

In an even comp and we seem to always be the hunted now - we are always going to have to deal with high pressure for most each game - if we can't deal with that then we are going to struggle

Somehow, we need to try and create more space for JVR , fritta, Gawn/Grundy to operate without trying to take marks in packs of 4 plus players.

As a side note I thought Grundy's efforts to mark against Fremantle was probably his best so far as a Demon - hopefully he continues to build on that and become more effective in F50

Cant imagine them risking Oliver after 1 game.  Reasonable chance he plays on June 12 ( 2 weeks away) as hes a fast healer and it wasnt a tear .

Carlton is not an easy game. We have to fight like hell and try and put them to bed asap especially with Cerra and possibly Cripps out plus a few others. Cheating umpires could be a problem. Brace for a 50m penalty when they catch feelings.

No more talk of easy kills. Even Hawks and North are improving a little week by week.

GWS beat  Geelong at the cattery for the third time. WTF do they know about that ground that Goodwin obviously doesnt.

Surely he will be going over the video to see how they did it.

If you can beat Geelong at the Cattery then you can beat Collingwood at the G. Even Collingwood players are human (sort of)  theyre not AI robots.

Oliver with the main group, as is Grundy.

Those doing there own warm ups include, TmacSpargo, Hibbo, Friitta, BBB, and J.Smith. All in runners except BBB.

Rehab, is K.Turner.

Spargo, BBB, J.Smith, and Tmac, join the main group. Now, Hibbo has joined.

Schache, with the main group.

Petty, is doing his own program.

They have put a barbecue on for staff, the kids and I assume anyone else.

We should know how to play that ground better than any team bar Geelong - the AFL makes sure we are trotted down there every year without fail

Is Oliver doing everything the rest of the group is doing? If you didn't know he was in injured would you suspect anything?

Yep, though it is only a short session.

He is also doing small distance ball handling with Moniz-Wakefield, after all the other players have left for the sheds.

I saw him feel for the back of his hammy early in the warm up. Like a test, but didn't do it again during the session.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
