I think that's the way it will end up but I think it sets a precedent that if they want they can. I also think they are going at us so hard because they absolutely dropped the ball with the Fogarty incident.

But how could they make that big of error unless something was bought to their attention after it was too late.

Perhaps it is why McRae was silent on the matter this arvo on Andy and Hazey SEN.

Yes, Academic Incest. Life is not a pendulum: it's a matter of consciousness and using your the senses and intuition and experience to help you navigate though life. It's like the term 'Cognitive Dissonance' which is an academic term which refers to people who will never change their minds, no matter what evidence is presented...

That's why I think its such an important case, if we lose then it doesn't matter if you take mark of the year if you concuss the "injure" to any extent as you've said the guy in front of you, your done.

Do you actually think that will happen though? The AFL will just forget about this like they do every other contentious decision when it suits.

If this were September does anyone really think it gets to this point? The AFL is the Absolute Farce League.

I've been thinking of how we can voice our frustration should this last appeal be upheld too.

My suggestion: A minute before bouncedown at the next game (there are timers on the scoreboard, aren't there?), ... all Demon ... or for that matter, any football supporter with a brain ... wave their scarf (or any "fabric" ... thank you Goody!!!) in circles, while shouting: "Rrroooooooooooooooo!!!

Straightfoward, relevant, and simple enough for the AFL to get the message.

It would not be appropriate for the following Sir Doug Nicholls Round, as much as I would like to see a protest for the duration of Rooyen's penalty.

Traction anyone? Or other suggestions? Its all just in case!!

The Walls of Jericho will come tumbling down...that'll show 'em!

This Tweet

Just saw on the news that Brad Green has been sanctioned by the AFL for his twitter comment into this ban! 😂

The club has been asked to explain his criticism of the Tribunal on Twitter

he can just say he was observing his duty of care towards jacon von rooyen

If this was a Geelong player does anyone really think this would even be cited?

But on this precedent you don’t need to actually injure the player. The act itself, if it doesn’t show a duty of care, is sufficient to be reported.

I don't think it will be every time, but I think it gives the AFL the opportunity to pick and choose when they want to enforce this.

Of course not.

Yea that's why I said "injure." I responded to someone that explained the "injury" part well IMO

I've been known to slip into an afterthought in my time. But I digress......

Well it's not actually in the rules, so precedent or not, any player could be rubbed out at any time, for anything

  • PODCAST: Gold Coast

I’ll be away for the next few weeks, so Binman will be holding the fort for our podcasts covering the Suns, Bombers and Lions matches. As a result, there will be no live podcasts during this period, and we won’t be taking calls or voicemails. Binman will still be dipping into this thread to select a few questions to answer, while also combining the long-form Stats Files podcast with the Demonland Podcast for these shows. Your questions and comments are a huge part of what makes the podcast work, so please post anything you’d like to ask or say below and we’ll do our best to give you a shout-out on the show. Please try to keep each post focused on one specific topic or player to make podcast preparation a little easier. If you have multiple topics you’d like to raise, please put them in separate posts.

  • GAMEDAY: Gold Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons are back at the MCG and have a massive challenge ahead of them as they take on Premiership contender the Gold Coast Suns. What do you want to see from the Dees today?

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

Melbourne’s slow starts have been a troubling theme for a while. Against the Suns, they started slowly in both of their games, they trailed by 5.7.37 to 0.1.1 at quarter time at Peoples First Stadium in Round 16. This season, the story has remained the same and if the Demons fail to shake off this issue against the unbeaten Gold Coast Suns, they will be in serious danger of capitulating once again in their Easter Sunday showdown.
