There's no way Collingwood don't win the flag now. They are Megatron and unless Optimus Prime sacrifices himself we're all stuffed.

If we ever come up against the filth in a final we just have to tag Nick Daicos completely shut out of the game.

or alternatively kick straight. Adelaide should've been so far in front that they couldn't lose. Clearly Collongwood are a great last quarter side but I'm so over sides rolling over and letting them come home over the top.

As seen last season their win at the death game wins a lot of games but doesn’t stand up in finals.

Hahaha what?!? They lost by a point in a preliminary final.  They’re the team to beat this year (as much as I hate to say it) they’re the bench mark and had Melbourne’s measure for years.

you need a quick, fit well drilled team to match them.

5 day break, ok, but crows lost because yes they stopped attacking later in the game and had shocking accuracy in front of goal. Pies are gettable

Bad kicking for goal = trouble

The Crows have gift wrapped top spot for them.

I think they missed about 8 easy shots.

Rankine missing on the run from 10m was just unforgivable.

Just one of those scoring a goal and they win.

Teams are panicking late in the game, when the Pies are coming at them.

Gee and they did that with pendles missing to. They just keep running.

But yeah Adelaide went to defensive in the last few minutes instead of trying to score

That ruined what could have been a perfect day

I’ve been watching footy all my 5 decades, and this is the best last quarter team I’ve ever seen. By a galaxy. They are also currently the best team in the AFL, it’s unarguable. And I hate it.

What are you talking about? Inarguably the best team in the AFL? No doubt the luckiest. How many teams are going to keep gifting them games? I'm happy to concede they are definitely one of the better teams after 7 Rounds.

Only watched the last 20 minutes of a hard fought 4th Quarter where I expected the Pies to surge and the Crows to choke and sure enough. But what stood out in a quarter of numerous ball ups and throw ins, was Frampton in the ruck giving O’Brien a bath. He was belting the ball to space or palming it deftly to his mids at will it seemed. That made it tough for the Crows midfield. I checked the stats and O’Brien dominated the hit outs for the match but not in the 4th and really dropped his bundle I thought.

There was a lot of poor panicky play by cwood in the last Q.  A good team would have put them away I suspect

Adelaide lost that match. Collingwood didn’t win. If the Crows kicked even 50% accuracy they win. Bad kicking is bad football.

The Pies are a good team but they’re not unstoppable. Generate scoring shots and don’t stuff up too many of them and you beat them. Crows should’ve beat them by 4-5 goals today.

Guess who the most accurate team in the league is this year… Yep. The Dees. We show up, bring the intensity, play our brand of footy and we’ll beat the Pies.

Let's be honest, a bit straighter kicking and they get done like Brisbane did to them.

I think Collingwood's best is only 4th or 5th in the comp after Melbourne, Geelong, Brisbane and maybe Carlton, but they look to have the smallest gap between their best and worst by a fair distance.

Couldn't have said this any better. If every team plays at their best, Collingwood don't make the GF.

Why would I want to talk about other games it's a Melbourne site, if you want to talk about them then go to big footy, if pointing out where we need to improve in my opinion, and you don't like it, it's simple put me on block, I don't believe in sugar coating where we need to improve, by the way I base it on watching other sides play and how they set up and go about it, simple really.

Ah dude, have you seen the title of the thread?

The Weed kicked five.

Trying to put a positive spin on things, I obviously would have preferred Adelaide to win but a Collingwood win is better than a draw. A draw is the same as a win if you have an inferior percentage, and (althought there's a log way to go) I'd like to think Melbourne will have a better percentage than both Adelaide & Collingwood at season end. We're about 140 points ahead of Collingwood at the moment and slightly more against Adelaide so a draw would have been a horrible result.

For similar reasons I was much happier to see Carlton have a huge win against West Coast given they have drawn a game already. It also means it's harder for Richmond to overtake them which is better imo from a Melbourne perspective.

Yes we can beat pies, they arent unstoppable. Adelaide panicked too many times during that game and blew it home crowd and all.

They have some easy games coming up and providing we stay in touch, the QB game could well decide the top of the ladder.

Full credit to Collingwood for how they mentally approach every moment of every game. But I have doubts that they can play with this intensity for 26/27 games. They strain every muscle and sinew to pressure, smother, spoil any contest, and it took that level of commitment from most of their players - as well as Adelaide kicking atrociously - for them to win this game.

It's such a long season, and I just can't see how they can play such a high tempo / high risk style AND seemingly play in so many close, long games AND stay fresh. If I am wrong, it'll go down as one of the best seasons of footy from a team in the modern era.

Teams need to remember that Collingwood is human

This lovefest for a team that hasn’t won a premiership in over a decade is nauseating.

Don’t get me wrong they’re good but there’s definitely some flaws in their game that can easily be exploited.

That was a good win by gold coast. Tigs are cooked.

And loving it. They've got Taranto and Hopper and no draft picks for the next 3 years.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

From the start, Melbourne’s performance against the Gold Coast Suns at Peoples First Stadium was nothing short of a massive botch up and it came down in the first instance to poor preparation. Rather than adequately preparing the team for battle against an opponent potentially on the skids after suffering three consecutive losses, the Demons looking anything but sharp and ready to play in the opening minutes of the game. By way of contrast, the Suns demonstrated a clear sense of purpose and will to win. From the very first bounce of the ball they were back to where they left off earlier in the season in Round Three when the teams met at the MCG. They ran rings around the Demons and finished the game off with a dominant six goal final term. This time, they produced another dominant quarter to start the game, restricting Melbourne to a solitary point to lead by six goals at the first break, by which time, the game was all but over.

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

Coming off four consecutive victories and with a team filled with 17 AFL listed players, the Casey Demons took to their early morning encounter with the lowly Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium with the swagger of a team that thought a win was inevitable. They were smashing it for the first twenty minutes of the game after Tom Fullarton booted the first two goals but they then descended into an abyss of frustrating poor form and lackadaisical effort that saw the swagger and the early arrogance disappear by quarter time when their lead was overtaken by a more intense and committed opponent. The Suns continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter and got out to a three goal lead in mid term before the Demons fought back. A late goal to the home side before the half time bell saw them ten points up at the break and another surge in the third quarter saw them comfortably up with a 23 point lead at the final break.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.
