And will the Afl still refuse to schedule Pies and tiges games there, citing crowd capacity?

You bet. Just pencil in the Demons for the 100th time. Nobody cares about them.

Geelong v Hawthorn at the MCG  nudged 70K.   17th v18th!  That sealed our fate next year. Geelong will not have home games against Hawthorn at the cattery.

Melbourne are stuck down there.

Melbourne dumped again in Tassie against Norff. Have pies ever been there? Doubt it.

That p.o.s Gill loves sticking the boot into us.  How many days break will we get after Alice Springs ..5or6.Cant imagine us getting the same breaks as Collingwood.

Sad news in the passing of Barry Humpries.

A great  talent and international superstar of the entertainment industry.

Never to be replaced. Thanks for all the wonderful laughs from Edna to Les.

RIP.

I'm wondering how much last weeks win took out of the Swans. Playing undermanned in key positions puts a lot of strain on your other players to cover. Their mids looked to be running in quicksand last night...probably the worst game Warner has played and Gulden was continually caught with the ball.

I wonder if like us against the dons, playing interstate twice in a row maybe hindered them. Perhaps?

It's a very much a compounding effect in those situations, throw all the travel into the mix and they were always going to be up against it. The usually super quick and spreading Swans mids and flankers looked like they had lead in their boots.

I too thought this was the worst game I've seen Warner play.

Afl draw is a just that aimed at ratings & nowhere close to a home & away concept ..  mfc playing at the cats 3 times vs 1 @ the G in 2021 … not sure why we just can’t rotate each season?? We had 3 road trips in first 5 rounds vs Ess once … cats playing Collingwood twice at the G?? just wouldn’t see this BS happening in the EPL…

Apples and oranges.  EPL consists of 20 teams and every team plays every other team twice (at home and away) over the course of a 38 game season.

Effort without talent at the highest level will still result in a slaughter like we saw last night.  I've predicted the Swans to fall out of the eight this year based on history (teams that get flogged in GFs rarely come up the following year) and some list deficiencies that are masked to a certain extent playing on their postage stamp home ground.

I think the whole 'Bloods' culture like the 'Shinboner' spirit is a little overblown- particularly by the media who love the romanticism of it - it plays well when you have a good list, but it means diddly squat if your game plan doesn't stack up and you are missing key players.

Injuries hasn’t stopped st Kilda fronting up every week this season and having a proper crack.

attitude and standards should be the same irrespective of injury list. Swans aren’t bringing at the moment for whatever reason after years of really consistent application.

Yeah nah, three cans and that’s me for the day. Struggled to watch the match on TV last night. Not that it was worth watching coz Geelong. Copping heaps from the Frittata clan for going to bed before 9pm. 😂

Should have come to training this morning WCW! It's rare for me to be able to make it 😀

Understand the the AFL can’t play each other twice but at least some integrity & why are the Dees playing the cats at their home ground 2 yrs in a row  & no doubt it’s happening to other club also ..the Cats playing their home game vs pies at the G an afl or club driving? Why would you give up ur home ground for gate takings in particular when your not struggling $$$

Sydney's GF team was a relatively young side and are probably feeling the affects of a short off season.  Add the injury list to that young side and it will be difficult to back up each week.

So far Sydney is a replica of our 2018/2019 seasons.  We had a young team in the 2018 prelim team, followed by short off season (only one week extra than Syd) followed by injuries in 2019 and we slid down the ladder.

Geelong are a hardened team and even they started slowly.

I would imagine the Dees Vs Cats at the MCG would get 70,000 plus.

I think the only fair way to do it is to have every team play each other once and alternate the venue from year to year.

However, I doubt the AFL would adopt this fair system as money is the key motivator.  Forget integrity!

This is precisely it, as long as we have the fundamentally flawed fixture we have now then there is little point complaining or trying to rationalise how to make a 100% fair fixture for everyone.

As for integrity and the AFL, ha!

I dont care if this is sexist but why do women take so long to choose items in shops. Im in the menswear section and its banb bang bang....all items picked and paid for.

Meanwhile 50 mins later my wife has tried who knows how many items while I have to suffer sitting on a very small shoe seat listening to Kenny g playing through the extra large store speakers.

Finally she's ready to go and Yes she doesn't even buy anything.

No wonder men die before there spouse.

They want to.

Are posters here unaware how horrific Sydney’s current injury list is? They’re missing an entire spine and more of talls. They’re not just rubbish, they have half a team missing. Off the top of my head they’re missing

P Mccartin

Hickey

Buddy

Amarty

Reid

Take away the Full back, centre half back, third tall defender, ruckman, centre half forward, tall forward/second ruck and full forward out of any team and they’ll capitulate. Given their injury list, tonight’s belting is completely expected and until they get some talls back the Swans are in for a world of pain.

Imagine us playing Geelong down there with no May, Lever, Petty, Gawn, Fritsch, BBB, VR.

Tomlinson, Turner and Smith on Cameron, Hawkins and Henry?

Yikes…

I figured out pretty early not to go shopping with the wife. I have no opinion about whether that top goes better with those shoes etc. Whatever she wears looks fine to me. She usually shops with her sisters. She's happier and I'm happier with that arrangement.

I go every now and then, like to keep in touch with what's hot and not.

Agree entirely. Mission impossible I call it. I will never forget years ago ( when I was stupid enough to go the supermarket with the missus ) she took about 20 minutes to decide which pack of yakult to buy. They are all the bloody same. That's what did it for me.

  • CASEY: Geelong

There was a time in the second quarter of the game at the Cattery on Friday afternoon when the Casey Demons threatened to take the game apart against the Cats. The Demons had been well on top early but were struggling to convert their ascendancy over the ground until Tom Fullarton’s burst of three goals in the space of eight minutes on the way to a five goal haul and his best game for the club since arriving from Brisbane at the end of 2023. He was leading, marking and otherwise giving his opponents a merry dance as Casey grabbed a three goal lead in the blink of an eye. Fullarton has now kicked ten goals in Casey’s three matches and, with Melbourne’s forward conversion woes, he is definitely in with a chance to get his first game with the club in next week’s Gather Round in Adelaide. Despite the tall forward’s efforts - he finished with 19 disposals and eight marks and had four hit outs as back up to Will Verrall in the second half - it wasn’t enough as Geelong reigned in the lead through persistent attacks and eventually clawed their way to the lead early in the last and held it till they achieved the end aim of victory.

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

  • PREGAME: Essendon

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?
