Kangas v Blues

1. Carlton rely on Curnow and McKay. But they are seriously very good.
2. Kangas youngsters are impressive.  Simpkin, Sheezel, LDU and they’ll add Wardlaw in next few weeks.
3. Kangas poor goalkicking and Larkeys injury hurt their chances.
4. Blues need Sam Walsh in. He’s run was missed and he will be a key to their premiership chances

5. Umpires in 3rd quarter were horribly favouring Carlton. It killed North to see Blues get so many frees whilst they didn’t get one for the last 20 minutes in the 3rd. Best comment about the umps. No comment.

I might be in the minority here, but Carlton haven’t proven anything yet. They’ve had a very soft draw and only just beat the Giants after a ridiculous free kick and just did enough against North.

Just wait until they play a genuine contender. Then we’ll see the real Carlton.

I’m with ya, don’t rate them.

🎶 Whoomp (There It Is) 🎶

Nice choice, Izak  😁

Jackson did everything right then from the centre bounce, Tabener let him down.

Izak wouldn’t have been born the year that song was kicking around.

Good start Crows - 50-21

Most of them choose songs that were released long before they were born.
Related: I’m glad Nick Murray’s not likely to kick a goal since his song is Thank God I’m A Country Boy. I’ve heard more John Denver in the past fortnight than I care to.

Putting our pick aside, Freo are destined to finish bottom 4 playing this style. Longmuir needs to overhaul their system big time and we know how hard that is mid season.

The only side they should beat is Hawthorn - I’d bet against every game.

Adelaide’s pressure is excellent but gee Freo have looked bad so far. Jackson has had a couple of moments where he just misses having the quality midfield to give it off to.

Sheesh…I didn’t think Freo were this bad. They got lucky with all the Weagles injuries last week. Jackson was really plodding half way through the second, is he carrying an injury?

crows were up by 30pts against GWS and tigers by 40 and lost both

not over yet

Are we seeing the Darren Burgess effect at the Crows.

They are very fit and have a hard edge.

Few Freo blokes have not enjoyed the heat of battle...

Is anyone else kind of uncomfortable with the thought that the Crows might soon be good again? It just doesn't sit right with me, like having someone standing outside your window. They seem to be okay for 'regular players' and with a bit of star power as Izakermanis and co mature, they might become a genuine problem.

Yeah could have used another year of mediocrity

I’m on my deathbed thanks to finally being hit by the damn rona three years too late. But this Freo game is bringing me back to life baby.

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.

Despite a spirited third quarter surge, the Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, remaining winless and second last on the ladder after a 39-point defeat to Essendon at Adelaide Oval in Gather Round.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?
