Cats 72 Hawks 29 at half time.
Cats look close to full strength. Hawks I wouldn’t have a clue.

Cats’ new recruits in Bruhn, Bowes and Henry have been impressive so far. I know it’s only Hawthorn they’re playing, but good to have some footy back on the box.

Hawthorn look a hot mess

Yep, I’m switching over to watch the Weid.

I took a look at the Hawthorn game and in 20 seconds saw a Hawk defender a mile out of position and then body-tackle Jeremy Cameron while Cameron took a mark anyway, and then a Hawk under not much pressure kicked to a wide open runner on the wing who failed to control the ball and watched it dribble out.

Result is all Cats but not in a way that says much about their prospects, just that Hawthorn don't have it together.

Acceptable.

Now. Is it possible?

I could not watch anything today or tomorrow.

could someone put up a “ training report” or anslysis of what happened in the other matches. With a comparison through rose colours perhaps against the mighty Dees!

thanks if you can

That's delicious. I can't wait until the day we talk about Geelong like this.

We did after the '21 Prelim.

It's a shame they went and won it the year after.... would've been nice if that was their last finals run ending in an 80 point drubbing.

Even when Essendon win a practice match it still annoys me.

To soothe your soul @dees189227

6,746 days since Essendon last won a final.

Blues 31 - Pies 13 at Q1

Harry McKay with 3 goals. De Koning in ruck and taken a few speccies with a goal as well. TDK looks built up physically compared to 2022.

End of Q2

CAR    7 - 5 - 47

COLL  8 - 1 - 49

Even a bit of biffo for a 'training simulation' 😁

Yes, but since Essendon last won a final, we've won 7 and a premiership.

Post of the day. Thanks.

Collingwood still very accurate in front of goals.

I would kill for us to have their accuracy. Would have won most games by 100 points last year.

Anyone know why the Bulldogs and GWS aren't playing Match SIMs this weekend?

A poster the other day mentioned on here the Giants didn't want to travel to Ballarat. That's the only thing I've seen on it.

Apparently that’s the reason; GWS refused to travel. Bulldogs are now replacing that match with an intraclub match.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Gold Coast

On Friday, the Demons return to our Casey Fields fortress where they have a 77% win rate. The scent of September is in the air and the struggling Suns are on the horizon. The Cranbourne weather forecast? Ominous, like the match itself: a strong chance of carnage. Let’s be honest, last week’s first half against the West Coast was a training drill but we dropped our guard in the final quarter. While this match is a mismatch on paper — second versus seventeenth — football is won in the wind, the contests, and the moments.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #32 Tom Sparrow

The rugged Sparrow’s career appears to have plateaued in recent years. He makes the side on a week to week basis but he is unable to establish a foothold in the team’s midfield and arguably performs best outside of the contest in a forward position without being a goal kicker. He remains a good honest foot soldier but is not a star.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #33 Tom Fullarton

Fullarton managed a couple of games in the first half of the season but soon found himself back in the VFL. There, he found a niche at centre half back but it was not enough to retain a place on the list at season’s end.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #35 Harrison Petty

Entering 2025, it looked as if Petty would be secured in a defensive position, but plans shifted and he spent more time forward, averaging just over a goal per game throughout the season. It remains uncertain which area of the ground he will be expected to cover under the new coaching regime.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #36 Kysaiah Pickett

The dynamic small forward, possessing an innate ability to generate excitement with his explosive play around the goals, successfully transitioned into a role that afforded him more time in the midfield. The club also negotiated a long-term deal with Pickett, thereby eliminating any prospect of a move west by their star young player.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #37 Kade Chandler

For a few years now, he has been a reliable, hard working pressure forward, but in 2025, Chandler elevated his performance, becoming an integral component of the team with enough versatility to play effectively on a wing from time to time.
