The price isn't bad but they could do a lot to improve their quality. Many people used to argue that they didn't want to canibalise their Foxtel box model but that's a dinosaur in decline.

I think their real problem is that they are gradually losing sports (tennis coverage for example is now almost exclusively gone to Stan)

If you really want to see overpriced rubbish quality check out WatchAFL πŸ˜“

I’m the same. Kayo gets cancelled the minute footy is done and I sign up for another streaming service instead to keep me busy during the off season.Β
Plus I go to every game in Melbourne and have a premium membership so I mostly use Kayo for replays and to watch interstate games. It’s a rip off and the quality is rubbish.Β
Β

The last thing I want to do is promote anything Murdoch, but I can happily stream Kayo in HD on a 7mbps ADSL connection without any quality issues. And I'm out in the sticks 7km from an exchange.

Agree there's no issue with the streaming per se but the quality of the feed is circa 2000 especially if you are watching the replay after they cut it down.

These days it should be 4k minimum. (Some of the blame rests with Channel 7 who simply refuse to upgrade their camera/broadcast equipment for reasons I can't understand. Youtube vloggers have been putting out 4k for the last 5 plus years)

channel 7 still don't have 4k cameras

i love that foxtel advertise 'footy in 4k' but it's actually not - it's upscaled telecast to 4k

Subscribe to Kayo today. Cancel before finals -Β as all finals are on free to air. I do it every year.

I refuse to give Rupert one more cent to lord over his over entitled children with.

Yeah that's a massive load. False advertisingΒ

Just got an email from the club with the Kayo sub for $229.Β  Is this good value?

I really only think it would be good value if you watched sport on it all year round.Β

Lots on there besides AFL that I would watch. 6 months on Kayo just to watch AFL is $180. Buy the club membership and you get a year for $229 only $49 for extra 6 months and the club gets a cut. Seems a good deal to me.

It's not $25 per month anymore is it? In that case it could be very decent value for some.Β

I would have watched a lot of stuff on there once but now I reckon NFL and maybe the odd UFC would be about it. A dream for cricket lovers, not a huge fan but if you are then there's massive benefit there.Β

My calculations were based on the email the club sent to me. Will check. I like motor sport and Basketball so I would value just there.

Oh yeah do like a bit of NBA come the pointy end of the season.Β

Motor sport is another one, it's got just about everything for that I think.Β

That's the other thing I guess, for me the 1 x screen would probably be enough. As long as it's HD!

With a membership the club profits.Β

  • Get the game info as it happens - radio; multiple coverages - two old trannies from the sock drawer
  • Wait 24 hours for the screening on the AFL Website - not too difficult making game analyses more relevant
  • Attend the home games as you can, through MFC Membership assisting the Club - on game day, drink at a good pub with Foxtel/Kayo as an alternative when we play away

Dear Fellow International Demonlanders, anyone know if we receive a code for Watchafl like last year (came in January)?

I have not seen anything yet and cant access Watchafl, therefore no Fox Footy and no cover of Match Sim I think, any clue?

Contact the club.Β

Sorry in advance for being a tech philistine

Has anyone else signed up to the $229 Kayo membership offer?. I have just signed up through the club website and not sure where to go from here. Sort of figured there would be prompts to get me access to Kayo but there isn’t. Any suggestions?Β
I have an inactive Kayo account

Did this get resolved? I just took up the offer but all I have received is a receipt (which is so far unhelpful in helping me watch the golf on Kayo this morning)

Crisis averted. An email with details does come through eventually… for me it was just in time to see Lee bogey the last and Scheffler birdie πŸ₯΄

The club's Kayo membership is great for someone like me who is interstate so generally get the Armchair membership which is included in this package. I had the Telstra deal for the last few years at only $15 for 2 screens but that ended so the club deal came at the right time. My email also said it is a 2 screen package which makes it much better than the usual $30 a month the price was going up to.

Thanks for posting that. How long did it take for the details to arrive? I took up the offer this morning and only received the confirmation they've taken the money. Kayo support are very confused by the offer too.

Did it ever show up? Or should I give up today and go to the pub? πŸ˜†

Mine came within the hour so my guess is youΒ have it now. If not, something has gone wrong!

I'm tempted to take the $229 Kayo deal. For years I got around it by using Foxtel Go (Courtesy of my folks) and chromecasting to the TV if needed but I'd like to have the option to watch games, mini games and footy shows on demand and get the best picture quality possible. I also love the idea of a chunk of the cash going to the club.

If I didn't have the Foxtel GO access this would be a total no brainer but it's still a good deal for a much less clunky experience, I know a lot of people aren't fussed about quality and user experience but it's definitely a plus for me.

If you’re already a club member Layzie, and purely an AFL fan, then it’s more cost effective to go month to month on Kayo. Sign up now, pay for April - August, and then cancel in September as all finals are live on FTA. That’ll cost you about $150 to watch literally every game in the season.

Then spend the money you saved buying a Flanket…

  • GAMEDAY: Fremantle

It’s Game Day, and the Demons return to the MCG wounded, undermanned and desperate. Still searching for their first win of the season, Melbourne faces a daunting task against the Fremantle Dockers. With key pillars missing at both ends of the ground, the Dees must find a way to rise above the adversity and ignite their season before it slips way beyond reach. Will today be the spark that turns it all around, or are we staring down the barrel of a 0–6 start?

  • PREVIEW: Fremantle

A month is a long time in AFL football. The proof of this is in the current state of the two teams contesting against each other early this Saturday afternoon at the MCG. It’s hard to fathom that when Melbourne and Fremantle kicked off the 2025 season, the former looked like being a major player in this year’s competition after it came close to beating one of the favourites in the GWS Giants while the latter was smashed by Geelong to the tune of 78 points and looked like rubbish. Fast forward to today and the Demons are low on confidence and appear panic stricken as their winless streak heads towards an even half dozen and pressure mounts on the coach and team leadership.Β  Meanwhile, the Dockers have recovered their composure and now sit in the top eight. They are definitely on the up and up and look most likely winners this weekend against a team which they have recently dominated and which struggles to find enough passages to the goals to trouble the scorers. And with that, Fremantle will head to the MCG, feeling very good about itself after demolishing Richmond in the Barossa Valley with Josh Treacy coming off a six goal haul and facing up to a Melbourne defence already without Jake Lever and a shaky Steven May needing to pass a fitness test just to make it onto the field of play.Β

  • NON-MFC: Round 06

The Easter Round kicks off in style with a Thursday night showdown between Brisbane and Collingwood, as both sides look to solidify their spots inside the Top 4 early in the season. Good Friday brings a double-header, with Carlton out to claim consecutive wins when they face the struggling Kangaroos, while later that night the Eagles host the Bombers in Perth, still chasing their first victory of the year. Saturday features another marquee clash as the resurgent Crows look to rebound from back-to-back losses against a formidable GWS outfit. That evening, all eyes will be on Marvel Stadium where Damien Hardwick returns to face his old sideβ€”the Tigersβ€”coaching the Suns at a ground he's never hidden his disdain for. Sunday offers two crucial contests where the prize is keeping touch with the Top 8. First, Sydney and Port Adelaide go head-to-head, followed by a fierce battle between the Bulldogs and the Saints. Then, Easter Monday delivers the traditional clash between two bitter rivals, both desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top end of the ladder. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking?Β I mean by β€œthey” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack.Β Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winningΒ 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
