The amount of content other clubs give their fans for their match sims vs ours is just crazy, some of them are even being streamed for fans meanwhile we get a photo gallery taken by the work experience kid. Can be really frustrating at times, hoping some on here caught the hit out

The media department has been extremely poor this off season.

I disagree with this.

I've been on a few other sides websites and some have had like 2 or 3 photo galleries for the whole pre season!

Given that we have lost Gibbo our media coverage has been quite satisfactory.

Agree… there has been minimal content. It’s as if we are back in the 2000’s.
where are the videos of training sessions, more interviews with players, coaches and admin departments.
this isnt expensive to do. Just needs someone with some will power and initiative

Daz, a little thought to ponder.

Ralphy is saying Liam Henry will definitely be in Victoria next year. He is apparently very close to Kozzie. We lost Toby and overlooked Burgoyne. We have a need for his type of player.

What if we have an arrangement with Liam to come to us and of course Kozzie would know if it was in play and it gives him another housemate and another reason to stay.

Just spitballing.

Slip into this idea as it makes sense and could also be valuable. Whilst we're at it, how about writing into his contract a fortnightly  return airfare for wherever he wishes to return - maybe one of our sponsors might contribute?

It’s nearly March and we haven’t heard from Simon Goodwin once 😂 not one press conference with a player either

Actually 58er I agree,  I have noticed that over the last couple of weeks it has gone up quite a notch.💕

I've been on the freo website and they've had a couple of 3 minute intra club highlights over the past few weeks.

Most clubs have have also done interviews for first year draftees about starting life as an AFL footballer etc as well as injury updates along the way. Max Gawn has tight hammy and it's breaking news all of a sudden out of the blue. Yet no injury reports on the lesser names like Melksham and Joel Smith.

Meanwhile we put up cringe videos of mini golf and shooting toy basketballs into hoops. Why they think this is exactly what the fans want is beyond me.

Gibbo is a huge loss and it's very evident in this.

We're just blessed that we have regular track attendees on here who are able to give up their time and and report on actual football related stuff.

Re: preseason coverage, the trackwatching is fantastic, and we are lucky to have such dedicated supporters. Surely the club has considered the preseason media coverage as a cost benefit analysis (my ignorant view!). Outside of a few committed supporters I wonder if it stacks up from a financial point of view.

FWIW I would love to see more coverage, but if it means dollars are being used elsewhere (other human resources), I can cope with what we are getting during the off season. I do understand the frustration of others but I wonder if the club have decided money is better spent in other parts of the club. Is anyone able to shed any light on this?

Some of the stuff that the MFC puts out are so simple, irrelevant and suited to the levels of engagement of the fans of teams like The Filth, Essendrug and Footiskrie. Thank heavens for the informative trackwatchers on Demonland.

I'm definitely not going to say we are the best, but are far from the worst.

We get photo galleries pretty much every training session and a lot of short clips and stories on Insta.

I agree it would be good to see some more video clips.

I assume they probably have someone very new in the role, so they may be learning on the job so will give the benefit of the doubt.

Does anyone have the training schedule for this week. Will be in Melbourne and try to get along

Has anyone ever thought that maybe the club doesn't want to disclose too much what its doing?

The off season is where you experiment with positional changes, game plans, tactics etc. Is it any wonder that the club wants to keep a few things under wraps?

That is definitely the other thing. If the club post a full internal match replay other clubs can go through it to try get an edge for round 1. I saw Port Adelaide posted this, so if I'm the Lions I would be watching that very closely.

Any chance we might get the MFC website updated? We have players without pictures and bios that are 2 or 3 years out of date. We couldn’t get that updated even with Benny G around - what chance now? Who is in charge of this anyway?

The footy club last year posted a 3 minute video on match simulation.

We then won 10 games in a row.

Opposition clubs would struggle to nitpick anything out of this.

They had an interview with James Harmes the other day and the most exciting part about that whole video was seeing a quick 5 second grab on Matthew Jefferson taking a strong contested mark. I loved seeing little glimpse like that on our first year players.

No one is asking for a full streamed match simulation. Save that stuff for when we're playing practise games against St Kilda next week.

I wouldn't mind to see a full streamed match simulation.

So would opposition clubs I'm sure. Despite the fact that I love reports from training I have no problem with the club not giving away any intel too early to opposition clubs. They won't get much from reading our training reports and if the send out spies then good luck to em but as much as we all want to see the match sims we really shouldn't be providing them video footage on demand.

Yes we’re waiting for Benny’s new snap without the sideshow ‘Bob’.

Just tell May to kick in long and to the left side and they won't learn anything.

Just a guess, as nothing has been posted.

Since they trained out at Casey today, they will probably have a run at Gosch's on Wednesday  9.30 am.

Maybe, they will also have a captains run Thursday, prior to the game at RSEA stadium on Friday, 4pm. Then there is the family day, Saturday at Yarra Park, from 10 am.

As you say, Kev, it’s all “maybe” and likely will be from here on in. This morning I asked my DeeArmy training schedule go-to, who is more across this than anyone, and even he doesn’t know.

  • POSTGAME: Essendon

Despite a spirited third quarter surge, the Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, remaining winless and second last on the ladder after a 39-point defeat to Essendon at Adelaide Oval in Gather Round.

  • GAMEDAY: Essendon

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

As the focus of the AFL moves exclusively to South Australia for Gather Round, the question is raised as to what are we going to get from the  Melbourne Football Club this weekend? Will it be a repeat of the slop fest of the last three weeks that have seen the team score a measly 174 points and concede 310 or will a return to the City of Churches and the scene where they performed at their best in 2024 act as a wakeup call and bring them out of their early season reverie?  Or will the sleepy Dees treat their fans to a reenactment of their lazy effort from the first Gather Round of two years ago when they allowed the Bombers to trample all over them on a soggy and wet Adelaide Oval? The two examples from above tell us how fickle form can be in football. Last year, a committed group of players turned up in Adelaide with a businesslike mindset. They had a plan, went in confidently and hard for the football and kicked winning scores against both home teams in a difficult environment for visitors. And they repeated that sort of effort later in the season when they played Essendon at the MCG.
