Got to remember that since our membership has risen there has been a few years of covid, I think people's fear of it is receding as there are many more people heading into the city on my vline train everyday, so hopefully that means more wont be so afraid to go to the footy.

Can't understand how you can be so confident that these people will show up.

It didn't happen after a flag, why would it happen now.

Our round 1 crowd is the most interesting of all the games. Could be as high as 60 and as low as 40.

Yes FTB really good point you make and I think our growth is a work in progress that will hopefully develop as we continue to have sustained success.

Our current team has this season (practice matches only so far admittedly) proved to be playing a very watchable form of footy along with a sort of maturity involving the Clubs seriously good prime movers who have the opportunity to enhance our standing in the AFL as a force to be respected and feared on the field.

Our membership base which is  growing  may realise this group is a potentially generational side who have a great opportunity to not only entertain but create a reputation as our greatest ( and only) modern team capable of forging some sort of success to recall the glory days of the 50's snd 60's.

Lets hope for at least 50,000 plus on the 18th to open the season.

This is going to sound dumb but I stopped going coz I think I am a curse on the team, as soon as I stopped in 2019 we started to rise.

We all had our things like that. There was a time in the Foxtel days every time I was at a game and IQ recorded it at home we lost so I stopped.

What can one say?

On the one hand I wish you could be at the G to witness our next premiership🙃

On the other hand may it is best to stay away...😉🤔

Let me ask you this, were you at either of the Sydney or Brisbane finals?

If not, then I can confirm you are not the reason

Do the best you can, there is more to life than football. What about a 3-5 game membership.

Digital ticketing was another big hurdle for people, as well as having to pre-purchase tickets for a while even as reserve seat or H&A members.

All this is gone this year, which will hopefully help get more people to the games.

Home games on Anzac Eve as well as Kings Birthday will further help boost our attendance numbers.

We had a strange draw last year where we had a lot of home games followed by a lot of away games, where we started to drop off. That too didn't help attendance later in the year, nor playing both finals against interstate sides.

Our last 4 crowds at the MCG were:

Round 21  vs Pies        70,000  home

Round  22 vs Blues      55,000  home

Qualifying Final  vs Swans  72,000 or 78, 000 not sure.

Semi Final vs Lions       62,000

Hardly a drop off. !!! Yes if we played Pies Cats or Tigers would have been sellouts I suppose.

Attendance was good don’t get me wrong but as you say we got 70,000 for a H&A game against Pies but only 62,000 for a semi final because we played an interstate side.
We would have got 90,000+ if we played Pies and easily 80,000 if we played Cats

I understand but it will change hopefully that a greater % will actually attend our home games. Hopefully this year.

Agreed. It is a question of building increased engagement from fans from season to season. The casual tv supporter gets a 3 game membership.

The 3 game membership person upgrades to all home matches membership the following season and goes to say 8 games ...

... you get the idea ...

Sustained success will bring Crowds. The Flag in ‘21 is huge, but we need more September Success to pull big crowds regularly

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
