Bonny Toogood sounds like the name of a character from an Austin Powers movie

Kellie underwood  " here go the bombers"  as Melbourne have the ball and steam forward

Essendon have been very willing. Always feels like kicking with the wind early isn’t an advantage in aflw because it’s hard to get value for inside 50’s.

Goldy needs a couple of weeks of continuity before finals. Just hasn’t found the pace of the game this year

She is actually unbearable. Apparently the wind is also making it difficult to pick the ball up off the ground.

Best 2 passages of play that quarter were Bannan in space, taking the game on. She's a jet. Just need to get the ball to her

I think we may actually play better into the wind (although it does look quite strong)

Mackin is exciting and I’d love to see her kick a goal. Has she kicked one this year?

I’m forever bagging the Collingwood cheer squad for… well… everything really. But in particular for waving an American flag.

Nek minnit…

😂 😂 😂

There's gonna be not one but two of these at this week’s match for our Irish girls!

PS: In case anyone’s wondering, I put the banana there to show the DA OGs the size of the flags.

Nice work!

Chaplin has heaps of potential off HB. Take the game on. Just needs to practice kicking a bit more and she’ll be a beauty

Goldy’s attack on the ball is unbelievable

Birch is going to be unplayable come finals. Such a fraud of a leader

Commentary is horrendous. Bombers this, Bombers that. Fox is Bomber TV so makes sense.

Zanks did the right thing, but fantastic work from Daisy and Purcell

I actually like Rob Harvey, he’s a huge fan of the way the Dees play. Lucy McEvoy one of the better current player commentators too.

Kel’s had a long season

Yeah get KU off the TV. Prespakis is lining up for the Dees second goal 🤦‍♂️

gee, can't the underwood work out what team is what!  bloody annoying calling the opposites constantly.

Sounds like there's a few bomber ferals in the crowd on the grandstand side of the ground.

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?
