Brewer was incredibly soft, a turn over merchant, and embodied dark dark ages of the late 70s.

Don't agree with that summation. He was handy, reliable and yes, the days were dark. In such a weak team, he was quite often a face-saver, finding space, taking marks, playing on to teammates, kicking goals when our scoring was making us all spew in the Southern Stand, and he proved to be a week-to-week asset without being a champion.

I’m not saying it will happen but softness is one thing you can fix. Schache was a baby at Brisbane and traded to the Dogs before he really failed.

He’s now failed at the dogs and genuinely on his last chance.

Clarry’s one of his best mates
Choco is choco
Troy Chaplin just won assistant coach of the year and if I was Goody and Co I’m giving Chappy a special summer project.

We all hope for the best. But Schache just doesn’t give that extra 1%. Maybe Clarry can sort him out upstairs

But i won’t be holding my breath over it

Given our draft hand for next year we'll never use a future 4th so the cost is nothing and he replaces a player that got us pick 37.  Most don't rate either.  Good trading I say.

Agree . I trust Taylor to be able to pick up a good prospect and Weid and Schache are on par at this point in their careers

The way we bomb in it to the forwards we need a "brute". Someone to stand under it and push/keep everyone away from the ball drop.

If we can be clinical, then players like Schache and BBB will flourish.

Hope a change of forward strategy comes along with Josh.

Big difference here is the dogs are stacked for forwards. While we are devoid for forwards and weid could never get a game. Came cheap and has a role he can immediately fill.

doing what exactly??

mitch brown / adam tomlinson replacement

Mitch Brown replacement.

We need to keep Tomlinson - on the wing, where he presents some real opportunities (if only the defenders - engorged in having the ball eventually land in Demons hands in the left forward pocket - kept an eye on his movements to space and utilised his good kicking).

Im pretty open to him coming in. He is a 25 year old who could be just what we need to mirror Fritta. Have JVR or Tom Mac at full forward the other at CHF and the kozzie running around their ankles i think it looks good. He is athletic enough to get his own ball and can kick a goal. It is a wait and see but if BBB is not fully fit and firing then i think this will be ok. Add grundy and max rotating forward and it is an ok looking forward line.

My oath, such a change in our forward strategy is critical - but it needs to be more than just one change.

1. Getting more possessions than the Weid could ever imagine without half-heartedness and preservation imperatives.

2. Usefully leading for the ball in multiple directions - his kicking is terrific from all angles.

3. Taking the odd mark in the danger zone with 'thinking' teammates doing their best to block/occupy/negate opponents.

4. Scoring a few more than Weid could ever accomplish.

5. Staying in the critical zone for effective responses - not running out of the way of potential harm, nor standing still to keep 'safe'.

6. Bringing the ball to ground for the smalls' skillsets.

And I bet he will be on a less coin? Could be wrong tho.

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
