IMO MFC in hind sight probably wish they should have kept either Simmonds or Jolly, both are better than Jamar and both have a lot more grunt than Jeff White. White is soft and wont put his head over the ball. We need a good tough ruckman.

Are you serious? Not only is Jamar a great ruck man he can also be a great full forward player. Jolly was dropped for the right reasons. Jamar is far harder at the ball and a more solid option.

Can't agree. Jamar does not impress me. Especially not as a "great full forward player". He is an OK back up ruckman, but he didn't get his nickname of "Donuts" cos he eats alot of them.

Clearly you're new here and haven't read enough of Ash's excellent posts to realise he sees plenty of the Demons and knows more about them than most MFC supporters. You may not always agree with what he says but it's always well thought out.

You clearly dont apply such high standards of behaviour to players of other Clubs.

You have not started well so far and you might want to read a bit more before you attack posters like Ash.

I second Old's comments about Ash and he most welcome to post here. He is a cut above the standard.

Simmonds and to a lesser extent Jolly have both performed way above what the MFC thought they were worth.

Still hard to accept the fact that we traded Simmonds for Craig Ellis 6 years ago (3 way trade that involved Bandy from Freo)

I get where u are coming from but we can not afford to look back at the moment, if we are going to start that the top of my list of mistakes is Woewodin!

I didnt say he wasnt welcome but when our list is decimated players like Jamar are great to have around cos he can play in a variety of positions and I really dont think 'donuts' is a nice way to describe one of our players. Far as I knew his nickname was 'russian'

Jolly was traded not cos we wanted too but he was going to leave and we'd have got nothing.

Jamar a great ruckman?? :lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

Yeah, makes me feel uncomfortable thinking about that trade.

But I guess at the time, it made sense. We had a dominant ruckman in White at the time, and Jolly was showing a lot of promise. And we were desperate to land a key defender

Yup I was one of the lucky 16,000 to show up last week were you? So we should get rid of him should we?

No I didn't go on Saturday, but it would help if I was in Australia.

I don't think we should get rid of Jamar, he has a role to play in our team but I do find it hilarious that anyone woould label him as great.

Get real.

Ellis's position was compromised by an ACL injury.

Well I believe all our players are great in their own way, too bad for the team if you dont

We also picked up a second rounder for Simmonds. Pick 26 I think.

A starting CHB (when boy was it needed, Ingerson just retired and Nicholson was raw) and second rounder for a ruckmen that was in dreadful form whilst Jeff White was about to reach his peak. Also Jolly was on the rookie list showing good signs.

The thought process behind trading Simmo was sound and what received as part of the trade was adequate. It was just unfortunate that Ellis got injured and Aaron Rogers didn't end up making it.

Jolly on the other hand wanted a number 1 ruck spot. Not much we could do there and we received a first rounder there! Lynden Dunn would not be playing full-forward this week were it not for the Jolly trade.

So I feel both the Simmonds and Jolly trades were sound moves at the time by the MFC. However I do agree that our current ruck stocks are worrying. White is still a very good ruckman but is desperately in need of quality support which he is not receiving at the moment by Jamar.

jamar is useless! yet people say " oh he is still young.. he needs time.. etc but in my opinion the guy is a waste and doesn't do anything on the ground to hurt opponents! he has been on our list for a good 6 years and has done nothing! has to go.. he has had chances

He has height which is valuable considering we are clearly lacking in height and he rucked possibly better than Jeff White on Sunday

You're probably going to find constant disagreements here then, if to you Ash's post was an 'attack'.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well …

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
