  1. I went to the function as well, was a great night and feel as if l have already got my $150.00 worth just from last night. The most impressive person to me last night was Jack Grimes, spoke well and seems very mature for his age. He is going to be a gun IMO. Colin Garland said to get on Grimes for the rising star and that he will definately be playing round 1. Grimes spoke about the backline and all the different players down there mentioned that Wheels is the general down there, that Stefan Martin is lifting massive weights & will get a crack at the big forwards like Jonathon Brown. Also mentioned Kyle Cheney is coming along really well & should play alot of games this year. Other quick points from speaking to the players last night are: Newton has the talent just needs to click in his head. Neville Jett & Jamie Bennell have special qualities and a x factor about them. Coaches are very cautious with Rivers, dont want him to break down again. All four players ( Watts, Grimes, Aussie & Garlad) seem to be great kids. Newton keeps asking Watts about his single sisters aged 20 & 22. Had the chance to speak to Colin Garland last night, was chatting to him for about 30mins, he is a really nice bloke. Said that this pre season has been really good and that he won't be playing on any of the tall forwards this year, Warnock, Frawley, Martin & Rivers will get first shot at talls and it will be tough to get a gig in the backline this year. He also said that he thinks Kyle Cheney will play 20 games this year. Mentioned that Pettard has not found a spot in the team yet. Garland is a shy quiet type who was given the nickname Humphfrey in his first year because he did not speak, he said that he was drafted on the Saturday, introduced to all the players on the Monday & Monday night was living with a strange family, it was all a bit daunting for him. Overall was a great night, spoke to club employee who works in sponsorship for the club, he was really dirty with missing out on Mission foods. Said Paul McNamee is a nice guy but more of an event manager than a CEO. Had a big meeting with a company yesterday & that can confidantlly say that we will have a major sponsor by round 1. Any one from 18 - 35 can join the Future Fund, cost is $150.00. Is is not all about young blokes from scotch college etc.......... Me and my friends are from Ringwood, aged 30. Cheers
  2. Hi all. I have just joined the Future Fund, cost is $150.00. The first function is Wednesday night at the Swan Hotel in Richmond. The four players we sponsor will be there (Grimes, Aussie, Watts & Garland) as well as Chris Connolly. There are giveaways & nibblies, drinks at bar prices. Looking forward to meeting the players & fellow demon supporters. Will give everyone a report on the night.
  3. l have all finals records in the 80's, including 87 final against north melb
  4. Lynden Dunn never got nominated last yr so hopefully he gets nominated as well, also Frawley if he debuts and puts some good games together might be a chance.
  5. MFC will not win a premiership with T.Johnstone in their side he is a lazy footballer who does not do the 1 percent things on or off the ground. Likes the easy ball. I hate to say this but same applies for doggy Brown not because he is lazy but because l think injuries have finally caught up with him and taken their toll on his body. The game has gone past him. He has been a good servant over the years and would be an ideal person to keep involved at the club in some capacity when he stops playing. I also think the playing group has lost to much weight over summer, we cannot seem to win the hard ball any more, last year we were a hard team this year we have been soft.
  6. I am not one that likes to bag players either its just that Jeff White has really annoyed me this year he has'nt influenced games enough for a man of his size. l was at training on thursday watching him, he is a big boy. He needs to get more contested posesions and drop back in front of the opposition full forward instead of getting cheap kicks 15m to the side of his team mate. l know he goes out each week and tries l just think he can do more.
  7. IMO MFC in hind sight probably wish they should have kept either Simmonds or Jolly, both are better than Jamar and both have a lot more grunt than Jeff White. White is soft and wont put his head over the ball. We need a good tough ruckman.
  8. Why are we playing Paul Johnson as a Key defender at the moment when we have so many on the list. Warnock, Holland, Bizzell, Ferguson, Carroll & Rivers. IMO Rivers & Carroll are the only ones of any quality, now would be a good opportunity to give either Warnock or Ferguson a crack at it & Paul Johnson a go up forward. The players above are wasting valuable spots on our list if they are never going to be picked. We need to develop our talls to be able to play both ends of the ground, we have no KPP that can make an impact at both ends of the ground, this is why we cannot cover our injuries at the moment, hence being on the bottom of the ladder. Adelaide have plenty of injuries as well but last week played three talls up forward who have all spent a lot of their careers as key defenders.(Perrie, Scott Stevens & Bock). We will not be a premiership threat until we become more flexible.
