Congratulations to Clayton Oliver on winning the 2022 Demonland Player of the Year Award. Clarry joins Nathan Jones as a 4 time recipient of this illustrious award.

ย

Clarry should definitely win the B&F and hopefully the Brownlow. Tipping a tie with Miller and Neale. ย

Top 10?? Did we have the final Demonland votes. Probably finish asย

Petty had an excellent year. Certainly a key part of the team alongside May and Lever in defence.ย

Some nice symmetry about that list, with Yze taking out the honours in2001 & 2002 and then returning as a premiership assistant in 2021.

Overall, I do like the contribution and support of some of our ex stars of that era of the club to the continued character of the team.ย  Lyon, Stynes, Robertson, Grinter, Green, Hopgood, Viney, Davey, Swartz, Neitz, Stretch, Woewodin, Wheelan, White and others have also all stuck by the club and maintained some level of connection support.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourneโ€™s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last yearโ€™s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although itโ€™s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sundayโ€™s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to foolโ€™s gold.
