Not as tall as his dad.

Pity we don't have father/sons who are bigger, stronger and faster than their fathers like young Tomahawk!

Heard he's a bit of a SOD! :P

hopefully we pick him up with out anyone having to bid for him, this new f/s son rule sucks. Geelong have been lucky with this rule and it was better the way it was before

theres no more f/s any more though:(

Yes there is DS, there's just a bidding system so clubs are forced to use better picks to draft guns.

I don't see how Geelong scoring Hawkins with a low draft pick was fair.

It all comes down to luck, what happen if the same thing happen to us? you wouldn't be complaining

That's a ridiculous assumption, particularly as I'm not complaining about the Cats getting Hawkins. I'm simply using Hawkins as an example (since it's the most topical atm...I'm sure there are many others) to illustrate the inequality of the soon-to-be old system.

I'd be saying exactly the same thing if Melbourne picked up the new Judd for a third rounder or whatever - that it was unfair.

F/S Clubs still get an advantage in picking up great young talent if they've got a connection to that footy club, but will now have to pay something near market value. It's still not entirely 'fair', but it's much improved and I like the new system.

news from port adelaide is that he has been playing at CHF, and if he continues his form he is a good chance to be a f/s selection

Developing at CHF nicely, although not dominating games. Not sure how accurate his height is on their website but he'd have to be at least 190cm to hold down a key position at AFL level.

There's a kid called Simon Keenan, who's around 15 now. His brother Sam didn't want to play AFL - "I want to do what I want and eat what I want when I want without public scrutiny 24/7", but he might. He'll end up bigger than Crackers.

If he stays off the radar I am sure the dees will be able to pick him up with a F/s selection. Lets be honest, he isnt setting the under 19s on fire like hawkins did, so the scouts wont be all over him.

Based on his season so far, i would say the dees could pick him up without too much comp.

Latest report on the kid, he's been listed in Port's best players the last 3 or 4 games as a CHF, and although he hasn't kicked big bags he's been regularly scoring. This is what the coach said after the game on the weekend about him.

".... while Brett Hughes again was dominant at centre half forward." (ok, not a big quote but I'll take anything at this stage ;) )

This kid could be a very good pickup for us, I'm justhoping he's bigger than the 185cm he's listed as on their website.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
