23 points is hardly a blow out

It kinda is when compared to the results of the other three matches. 😁

If Fremantle end up with LJ their going to have an amazing core of young talent. Brayshaw’s work rate is off the charts.

Yep. The only game that was basically done at 3/4 time. As a supporter I knew we were gone. Such a disappointment.

However I firmly believe we played the best team in it by far. Swans will win the flag.

Our game was the best balance of defence and scoring until three quarter time, when the game was despite your MFCSS well and truly alive.

It was clearly done after Heeney's goal, if not earlier after the Melksham miss. Melksham kicks that (for him, routine) set shot though, and who knows what happens.

Time will tell whether Sydney's the best side in it. They looked like it this weekend, but Geelong had insane levels of pressure on them going in and perhaps that will be freed for the prelim (obviously I hope that's not right).

7 goals to 2 after half time

Kicked the last four of the second as well so 11 to 2 after the twenty minute mark of the 2nd.

Do we give freo any chance next week.

The whole of Melbourne bar pies fans will be going for freo surely

They've won their last four and only lost twice on the road all year

Having said that, the Dogs are a number of levels below Collingwood and indeed all other finalists, so it's very easy to get fooled by that comeback.

Can't say I feel sorry for the Dogs at all. In fact, I take a degree of joy from that.

I also take a degree of joy from that… a HUGE degree.
And I’m happy for Nat Fyfe and Gussy’s lil bro. 🙂

If they play like they did from late in the second quarter they could.

How was the crowd noise & support for Freo, not that it makes any difference apparently

Suck [censored] Doggies get back in your kennel!

Great comeback by Freo and best round of finals matches I can remember. Every game had intensity and there were some tight finishes too. Gotta love footy!

And this is why we’re not out of it yet. This first week showed anything can happen, some luck and getting right on the day who knows. We’re 1of 6 left.

Switching sides in the final draw might even help us a bit.

As Lenny Kravitz says, “it ain’t over ‘til it’s over” ❤️💙

Still picking a Swans v Demons GF. Said it before the game yesterday regardless of the result. Today just reaffirmed this - Geelong aren't that good. Also think Freo could genuinely knock off Collingwood next week, albeit it only extends either's season by a week

Its amazing you know one side will be favored in most matches but the same side week after week after week.

This fact makes you so sad for the umpires themselves. How must they feel? Week in, week out; in every fixture of the season played by the Doggies; for several seasons and possibly, the season to follow the current 2022 year. So why am I so sad for the umpires, you ask? It is because - across the board - they have expended so much carbon dioxide and oxygen when blowing the whistle to announce a Doggies free kick (usually out of the blue), or to see an infringement in the Doggies' favour that no-one else saw/dreamt up or uncannily created any related stoppage that may give the Doggies some advantage over their opponents at any stage of any match - and still, the Doggies are losers. Wasted effort.

I reckon:

  1. Sydney will have no issues with either Collingwood or Fremantle (though if I were Sydney I'd definitely be barracking for Fremantle to upset Collingwood, just to avoid any potential Collingwood close game hairiness)
  2. Geelong will blow Brisbane off the MCG if they get the Lions in the prelim. It will non-competitive
  3. But if Geelong get us in the prelim...

I'd have much rather we won last night and given ourselves a week off to recuperate before getting either Fremantle or a chance at revenge over Collingwood. But we have no choice but to dust ourselves off and launch ourselves at our bunnies. Hopefully some start to pump up Brisbane's tyres, as is common for the EF winner against the QF loser, so that the pressure is released from us a bit. If we can make the prelim, we'll be underdogs, which might suit us perfectly.

How about a dockers demons gf. That would be ok.

Incredible first week of finals really

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
