At the ground an hour early. Bumped off some pre game beers in Swan St. For a game like this, I do not want to muck around with entry and all that jazz.

Couple of settlers are a must. Doctors orders.

No, it’s fake news 🙃 Rain hail or shine, I’ll be there - GO DEEs

ps I’m looking at an App ‘Windy’ that gives me the info I want (for all I know, this could be an app endorsed by Qanon).

On a half serious note, I have been caught out many times by referring to BOM’s hour to hour forward forecasts when it indicated rain. I think if you read into details, if there is a chance it will spit that will show up as rain.
When I look at the Apple hourly forecasts (they obviously use different interpretations of what is ‘rain’ ) quite often it will show it will be dry - and to me more often than not have shown a more accurate or realistic projection

Sadly, before I hit ‘send’ I just noted they both forecast rain! So …..I hope Windy is correct but I’m losing confidence.

On the upside, either way, we will smash them

For what it’s worth - after clicking the send button I headed to the car (I live in the SE suburbs) - I got absolutely drenched!

Im at the G now , obviously has pelted down here also but at the moment , no rain - for the moment.

Fingers crossed , we may get another shower or two at most (I hope). Ground obviously will be slippery but that shouldn’t bother us- we are going to smash them

MY concern is purely self vested- I am not under cover

While he did play against Collingwood again (and lose), I felt this goal provided a great sense of symmetry to Jack's career in hindsight.

That was the last time we genuinely stuck it up the barstards. Fingers crossed we can do it again tonight.

That was a great goal one i will never forget, people dont remeber watts ran back to the other end a took a saving mark

Another one from the time capsule.

The stakes were low. The atmosphere middling. The standard of play mediocre.

But it was all worth it for this.

To my knowledge, we ended this self indulgent rubbish as this was the last 'Press Red for Ed' match Eddie ever commentated.

Yep never happened again. I remember this day well because 5 mins after the siren I stepped into a lift with a bunch of Dees fans and there was Eddie. I asked him how the call went and all I got in return was hmmmmpph. I responded with I knew I should have pressed red and got another hmmmmpph.

Made my day!

[censored] hate the modern way of selling all the good GA seats as reserved.  They should always leave some decient ones for first in best dressed IMO.

As MFC members at every other MFC home game this year (been to most) we've been able to sit freely on level on Southern stand - good reward for loyal support of the club NOT!

Could not agree more. Shirs me to death.

I have a reserved seat but prefer sitting at the top of the Ponsford.

But the GA seats are way, way up in tbe boondocks. Crap view from up there.

That's real great isn't it.

People slowly trickling in to the MCG.

Turns out the trip was definitely worth it. Thanks to a very generous family member I jagged seats in the Demon Seats area.

Let's get it done Dees!

They want them in the GF. Against Geelong.

Block of people beginning to crowd out the top part of the Ponsford- indicates all seats below are reserved- should be a sizeable crowd

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.
