62k with 85-90% mfc representation

exceeded my expectation

Didn’t sound like those percentages, Mr say what…

The vast majority of supporters around me were fantastic.

I have to say, and this is a criticism I’d gladly tell anyone at the club who’d listen, it’s incredibly difficult to go to our home ground (which we’ve been banned from for 2 years prior) and see the side get beaten in such a comprehensive and consistent manner after half time week in and week out. I know people have been critical of the supporters but each game was so eerily similar I think it’s a lot to ask of supporters for them not to go into their shell and think ‘here we go again’.

The support was great last night

I don't buy the narrative that we are a quiet fanbase. We're just as passionate and noisy as most other clubs (i acknowledge the pies fans are next level).

And our cheer squad is excellent. I was close to them last night. they sang their hearts out

It was probably 70-30 crowd to us. I thought they were louder than us and I was there. Heard Bucks say same thing post match and he was there.

It's not hard to see why. A combination of a very old demographic and a lot of supporters with hearts in their mouths waiting for the 2nd half fade out.

The make some noise pop up in the big screen was frankly embarrassing. But whatever works.

Maybe I’m being pedantic and these are very small things but they add up and it didn’t feel like a Melbourne Home final to me. Firstly the purple illumination of the exterior of the MCG. I understand why but I personally thought that the tribute done prior to the game was fitting enough and lighting should have been red and blue prior to game and maybe go purple post game. For the second game in a row a supporter in opposition colours tossed the coin. Finally the lion noise after a Brisbane goal. As a club I don’t think we are parochial enough. In no ways does this influence the result of the game but it does influence my feeling of it being a Melbourne home final having gone the last few weeks.

What was with the music after the goals gave me the absolute shi TS. Also the lion roar it was our home game FFS

Was about to post the same thing. We earn the right for a home final and they play the roar after evey lions goal. Would they do the reverse at an interstate venue for a final? If MFC wanted to support members attending, they could at least send a please explain to the ground or AFL or both. Salt in the wounds!

I was there. they were not louder than us. I didn't realise there was any Lions fans there at all until the 4th quarter

That bloke worked for CUB. They sell the coin toss as part of the multi million dollar sponsorship packages.

Was 80/85 % only Lions sound 3rd q late and all last quarter

I banged on about this last week but I thought the supporters were great tonight. Decent turnout with 62k and the place was electric at times especially during the 2nd half. Unfortunately the team didn't get the job done but the supporters were fantastic. 👏👏👏

Agree, thought everyone was really gee'd up and when we had those little bursts late they tried to get us over the line. Thought Brissy's fans were pretty good late in the game too which sucked though.

  • PREVIEW: Collingwood

Way back in March we contemplated the possibility of a Demon resurgence after Simon Goodwin’s summer of love. Many issues at the club had seemingly been addressed, key players were returning from injury and a brand new day was about to dawn. We imagined the coach pulling a rabbit out of a hat. The team would roar up the charts, push aside every opponent and make its way to a Grand Final ending in ultimate triumph with Goody and Max holding the premiership cup aloft under a shower of red and blue ticker tape.

  • AFLW REPORT: Western Bulldogs

We’re back! That was fun. The Mighty Dees’ Season 10 campaign is off toa flying start with a commanding 48-point winover the Western Bulldogs, retaining the Hampson-Hardeman Cup in style. After a hard-fought first half in slippery conditions, the Dees came out in the second half and showcased their trademark superior class, piling on four goals in the third termand never looked back.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
