Logan McDonald from Sydney. (Another kid from WA). Has shown he can play but currently out of the side for Amartey, Reid’s in good form and Buddy is apparently going around again.

Signed a 2 year extension to end of 2024.

Cam Zurharr?

Out of contract at the end of this season, more of a hybrid than a key forward, but someone i think could be seriously damaging in a forward line with better delivery.  my big question mark would be if his defensive attributes are up to a level required to play for Melbourne, it'd be hard to carry both him and Fritsch in the same forward line if they're not.

We are carrying Weid at the moment, and at least Zurhaar is a damaging forward. I'd pursue him big time. He's put contract talks on hold, which means he's thinking about his future. He's gettable.

Zurharr could be a jet in a good side. Well worth a polite enquiry.

I can really only remember him in this years pre season game against Norf where he looked overweight and couldn't get a kick

Anything but a jet that day

Oliver Henry from the Pies is out of contract. The kid is pretty talented and doubt that the Pies would let him go. Worth reaching out to his management and asking the question. Straight swap for Weid :D

Hahaha… if only the pies would be that dumb😅

My son is a mad Kangas supporter and believes that Zurharr, originally from WA, will return home. Originally from West Freemantle.

I'm sorry to hear that OD I hope your son recovers soon and starts following the Dees

Interesting that Freo are seemingly into 3-4 high ish profile players despite having no picks to trade. makes me think a big name player might be on the way out.

His grandfather, my Dad converted him. Then when he was an impressionable youngster a mutual friend who worked at North Melbourne arranged for him to attend some training and meet Mr Carey and have his photo taken with the team. Not sure who was more excited my son or my father who also got an invite. Every letter he wrote to Mr Carey got a signed reply North marketing department did a sensational job in those days. The framed, signed photo still hangs aloe his bed

Jacob Hopper tipped as being on his way to the Cats?
Tanner Bruhn tipped as being on his way to the Cats?
what the ? How ?? What bargaining do the Cats have? Both would be considered 1st round compensation.  Cats have 18,36 at this stage so they’d have to trade out players.  Sure their lifestyle appeals but they cannot have much room (if any!!! ) in their salary cap.

Bruhn probably only goes for a 2nd

Hopper on the other hand is criminally underrated and if I were the giants, would be wanting 2x first rounders (knowing that they'll be very late ones from Jeelong)

Our target should be Haydn McLean.  Victorian boy. Big aggressive type. Go play forward or relief ruck. Squeezed out and behind Buddy, Reid, Amartey and McDonald.  Swans have Ladhams and Hickey as ruck options.
McLean would come at reasonable price and with plenty to show.

Bruhn for a 2nd round - pick 20-40 range. GWS would be seriously ripped out!! Where do I sign that deal ? He’s got the makings of a 200+ game talented running mid with good contested ability.

Agree Hopper is underrated. If he was in a Victorian team, he’d get more focus and notice.

I reckon Bruhn is a talent but he's not currently best 22 for them

And based on the Caldwell, Hately etc types who have left early, giants won't get a 1st for him

I wonder if Darcy has indicated he'd be open to a move back east, hence their aggressive LJ offer?

Yes again it’s probably the Cats into Darcy

So your Dad didn’t manage to get into your head - thank goodness 😅

Would make sense, but in that case y are the dogs after Lobb and not him. You would assume  if he was on the table at a price there would be some interest from someone already and the media would be talking about. I’m just hoping we have someone in the pipeline, what time of year did the rumours start with Steven May and Jake Lever.

Darcy will become the dominant tap ruckman once Gawn retires. on his current trajectory he will be the front runner to snag a few AA. If we can snare him in the LJ trade with Freos 1st round pick, I think you take that trade and never look back. Under Max’s tutelage, Darcy can become an even better player, lose some kegs and build a massive tank.

If we can then get a hold of the Lions 1st pick via a pick swap, we maybe able to get into the top 5 and snare a KPF.

If Darcy had nominated his club of choice as someone other than the Bulldogs, then the Bulldogs would have no reason to target him Besides, English has come on and they probably don't need two guys that can mostly only ruck.

I wonder if Darcy would be open to us. 😉

He’s non reaction to Trac was rather peculiar but then again he did initiate an off the ball jab.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 2 Jacob van Rooyen

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #3 Christian Salem

Salem proved to be a valuable contributor as a reliable and solid one-on-one medium-sized defender in what was undoubtedly his most impressive season since the premiership year. He remains a highly capable rebounding option for the Demons as he approaches his 200th game at the club.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #4 Judd McVee

Following an injury-interrupted start to the season, McVee struggled to maintain the standard he established in 2025 as he pursued an expanded role within the team structure. He remained a firm fan favourite and the club had hoped to negotiate a new contract with the former rookie selection from Western Australia, whose partner, Lily Johnson, plays for Melbourne's AFLW side. Those hopes were dashed when he expressed his desire to return to his home state and play for Fremantle. Like all players who have worn the red and blue and are leaving this year, we wish him well in the future.
