Like Petracca, Oliver, Cadman, Ginbey, Holmes and others they come from nowhere. I see so many highly touted 15 and 16 year olds stagnate as others grow physically and get serious about their fitness catching up and/or passing many who stood out as juniors.  Trac was always expected to go, but he wasn’t first round tip a year out. He got fit and probably should have went #1. There will be plenty of bolters between now and next November

    A familiar name to keep an eye out for next year is Melbourne NGA player Riak Andrew (192cm fwd), brother of Gold Coasts Mac Andrew who was taken at pick 5 in 2021. He will have to be outside pick 40 for us to have rights to him.

    For some reason he didn't play any NAB league games this year, does anyone here know why?

    Think he did a PCL that put him out for the year. I believe he’s started preseason with the Stingrays, so should be good to go for next season.

    Has a similar athletic profile to his brother, so won’t be surprised if he jumps up with some exposure in the u18’s comp next year.

    Maybe the kid should just rest up for another year and ensure he’s fully recovered!!! (#DeesNGApick)

    I’d definitely have Will Lorenz slotted into this group.  Displayed such skills and decision making.  Love to see him in contention for one of the Dees picks in 2023.

    We played Peel pre season and early season and was really impressed with his run and spread to continually be in chains of movement. He then faded a little during the season but I saw him again later and he dominated in a fashion similar to Tom Mitchell just seemed to be everywhere around the ball and in follow up transition, but his disposal let’s him down a little  He had a really good finals series on what I saw, but that wasn’t live.

    Endurance IMO really developed during the season and if he takes that up another level along with his size, burst from stoppages, ability to find the footy he will be a decent player who attracts attention. I think he will need to clean up his foot skills to go in the first two rounds

     He looked good (potential top 25, 2023 draft) in the champs which is all I've seen of him playing as wingman.  He's the son of Derek Hall (doesn't qualify for Father/son) who was a handy forward for Geelong and played a game or two for West Coast.

    Correct, missed through injury.  Club is tracking him closely.

    Zane Duursman - my number one pick, forward/mid- in the game bailey humphrey re-emerged Duursma was BOG by a space.

    Patrick Hughes - quality midfielder

    Archer Reid - very promising key forward 

    Joe Pike - promising ruck

    A Smokey to watch rise from WA is Jett Sibosado who comes from Broome, he’s been boarding at Scotch College for last 4 years and is a good talent. Played in the last 2 Alcock Cup winning seasons for Scotch as a Yr 10 and 11. Colts player at Claremont around the 182cm 70kg mark. Good skills, composed in traffic and has a tendency to sit on opposition players heads. Freo Next Gen player

    So we have one player in the Metro side tied to us as a father-son who will cost draft points if we select him early and another in the Country side who we can only draft if he is not picked inside the top 40. The worse they perform the better it is for us and the best thing to do is hide them away. We can't do that if they make these representative sides though, can we?

      I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

      The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.
