Umps have got black and yellow jocks on tonite but the swans have been dreadful. Be interesting to see what happens with Franklin. probably a slap on wrist.

Commentators already angling to get him off. Saying it was an open hand. Looked like a fist to me. They have too much influence on the tribunal and MRP. Seems to be a pattern.

Daisy Pearce is a very good commentator.

Not a great start to the Bloods.  A long way to go though

Richmond getting their mojo back. One last shot before the band moves on? Martin back makes a real difference, he's their talisman.

Umpiring is so inconsistent

Grinter or Ox be looking at a month

And of course add in the "who are they playing next week" and he will get off scot free

He shouldn’t be. This is going to be really interesting with the MRO.  He fair and square punched Cotchin in the jaw. So we will see what the MRO deems to be the issue, the action or the consequence. Did Viney hurt Collins? No, but he got 2 weeks.

Clear cut ... except for who it is.  Chandler would have been giver 4 weeks for that.

First was an open hand, but the second was a clenched fist without any doubt.  But of course that [censored] Christian will say "insufficient impact" or some other BS excuse.

The "on the line" call from the umps for a player standing the mark after an OOTF is such a dumb rule/call given the player kicking is never lined up and forced to kick over the mark (as he should be) to start off with.

The player kicking in starts off well inside the mark of the player on the line and is effectively in an instant "play on" position from the time he is handed or picks up the ball but the player on the mark must stand on the line till he runs further inside and kicks it or handballs.

One of the dumbest rules in footy right now.  Whose idea was it to introduce this rubbish!

"Umpiring is so inconsistent" - yes, consistently so.

Particularly the holding the ball / incorrect disposal.  So confused.

And apparently Martin is allowed to dissent without a 50

Now the early-season hysteria is behind us, could Richmond be the Dees' biggest threat?

Seriously, every week the narrative changes due to a single game. There are 4 or 5 teams that have shown they can challenge us, it is simply that none of them have sustained it thus far.

McKennerny had the right idea there but too shallow

"One of the dumbest rules in footy right now.  Whose idea was it to introduce this rubbish!"   Wasn't it another of S Hocking's shocking changes?

If that is the case then they should take the space away between the S and Hocking and just rename him Shocking!  Give him another hotdog on the way out also!

Great goal Budstar!!

The first swing was open-handed, but still contact to his head (face). The second one looked more serious. Let’s see what happens.

Indeed

Gil should [censored] off now and take Scott with him.

Seriously, the umpiring is making this sport hard to watch, that prohibitive contact against Rioli is a joke, not seen anything like the last two rounds.

That is Scott and Gil’s handiwork, clowns should go

So now a player can’t brush past another player. I don’t blame those feral Tigers supporters for losing it.

Nice finish coming inside and the goal also

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
