that was... not great

and disappointing to hear him talk about a colleague in this manner

What is this all about?

The two grabs of Morris (allegedly) are here.

One is saying a female colleague from Fox is a lesbian (in very colorful language).  The other is much worse where he says because he isn't black, Asian, a woman or gay, he shouldn't be treated badly. Appalling really.

Complete side issue but someone has basically taken him out.  I think his career is over.

He has been recorded without his knowledge or permission talking in a very misogynistic way about a female work colleague and this was leaked today.

What he said has nothing to do with the Bevo saga and has probably been held onto for a while. Doesn’t excuse what he said and I think it’s the end of his employment with Fox Sports unless there is another twist to the story.

Cancelled? You mean fired, don't you?

Not defending him but the connection to his work colleague is circumstantial isn’t it? Who are we to say that video wasn’t doctored? It’s actually quite easy to do. The audio on the other hand is a bit trickier but with the right software AI it is not impossible.

Not really.

From what I understand, being 'cancelled' comes about from expressing an opinion that, while potentially provocative or making some people uncomfortable, is considered and based on some form of empirical evidence which ultimately benefits the public good. Or in other cases, dogpiling by zealous people on those who may have misspoken or were misinterpreted. That's the kindest interpretation I can give.

I'm not sure grossly and intentionally sexually objectifying your colleagues (might make it a bit uncomfortable for him to front up to her from this point onwards) and essentializing gay colleagues with puerile language many 14 year-olds might use fits into that.

Who knows if he'll get sacked (as there is something unsavory about recording phone calls)? Either way, he does deserve a good kick up the @rze for being a misogynist dullard. If that's 'cancelling' him, then I'm comfortable with that.

How likely is it someone has deep faked this, for, *holds chair* Tom Morris. I mean the software is free and easily accessible, but, why bother.

I think the other grab is worse.  Where he suggests that because he isn't black, Asian, a woman or gay he shouldn't be treated badly.  I think that is the one that costs him career.

Just heard it then.

The sentiment here is that while Morris is a plonker, Bevo was out of line for his outburst.

In light of this, Bevo was out of line based on the facts of that case in isolation.

Morris is now confirmed as a grade A troglodyte who might want to crawl back under the rock he emerged from (and learn to watch his mouth when microphones are near).

Probably did a voice recording as he didn't want someone to screenshot his message, but you can screen record anything on an iphone either way - easy to capture  -

Interesting strategic leak of the TM audio.

I know it’s inappropriate, but I can’t be the only one who finds the term “liquor license” hilarious. Hadn’t heard that one before!

Serves me right for writing these posts in the middle of the night, and then not proof reading properly. Surprised there weren't others who corrected this. There is usually no shortage of pedantic posters on here,,,,,,,,,

Yes, two completely unrelated things.  Tom Morris is a clear moron but that in no way justifies or remotely explains why Bevo was so unhinged last night.

I don’t think either of those clips have been doctored. The inflections and breathing are all correct, no edits.
I just think he spoke when he shouldn’t have.

Have you been to the footy? I come across opposition supporters that are so deeply invested in their footy clubs that something like this would not surprise me at all. There are some really bizarre characters in our society and my 10 year old son could probably do a deep fake.

If he has genuinely said that, then he deserves what is coming obviously.

So you have to wonder who has been sitting on this horrid audio of Morris and decided to leak it today presumable to take the heat off Bevo.  Presumably a mate of Bevio or the Dogs.

Morris is doing his job. He is a journo after all - their job is to find out stuff others are trying to hide but others have an interest in finding out. It has always been thus. The AFL as a community can be incredibly precious sometimes......

I liked the description given by a friend… a case of Feud and Beveridge.

CYB are you saying that a 3rd person could record themselves and “Sound like” Tom Morris with the use of an App?

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.
