Not a whole lot new there. He's gotten to be even better than Sheedy at deflecting unwanted attention. Brownie, JB and Newman were quick to say how well regarded he is by the players. Couldn't help but feel a bit bad after they said that. But only for a second.

Said Sylvia pulled up a bit sore, Pickett will play a full game this week, and Riv has a sore hammy.

what did you expect.. he was there mainly in the context of the coaches assoc. ..that...and what is he going to do...even if he did have any real surprises he's hardly likely to let anything out of the bag.

just another affable display by the likeable coach

( effective NO...likeable yes )

So Sylvia is sore

geez...

Posted

im a bit sore, but i'd play this week if they wanted me too...i think the word sore needs to be replaced with slight strain whereever possible when describing footy injuries...

Sylvia seems to be flying under the radar at present.....they are keeping the wraps on this guy.

Agree..Sore ?? what multitude of physical deficiencies is this meant to cover ?

Is that like the guy who said...honeslty officer i tripped and fell...then stumbled into the door ?

Yeah......it's hard not to like Daniher isn't it?

He seems like such a top bloke!

Easy to lynch him on a website, but I feel for Gardner or whoever it is that has to swing the axe should it eventuate.

Sore? well when the the kid has been battling OP for the last 2 years when he pulls up sore during his bid to get back to fitness OBVIOUSLY the thing to do is rest him....NOT play through it because then it continues to get worse and it lingers on to next year to!

Let Sylvia take all the time he needs to get himself right...

So given he's hardly likely to let anything out of the bag and he was there mainly in the context of the coaches association why wasn't it effective?

Ask one of the players if they think he's likable.

I recorded the footy last night, and i am watching the tape

that was annoying-- truly defelected answering the questions asked by sam and the panel.

Go suggestions given by Nathan Brown on what to do in order to beat geelong ;)

A second too long dappa.

Balme was well liked too...even by the one and only Garry the great- hmmm. ..infact so much so Lyon hurled a major league hissy when Neil's head rolled from the block straight to the basket. But the meat in the sandwich here is simply that he could not coach!

Who the hell are JB and Brown to the Mfc anyway? and what would they know? and I doubt Newman would bag the Rev straight to his face.

Save for mediocrity, there is no room for soft heads and warm hearts in this caper.

JB, Gary and Nathan Brown alluded to the fact that Neale has an absolutely fantastic rapport with the players.

Could that be the major problem with ND.

I doubt some of the more successful coaches like Malthouse, Sheedy, Pagan and Matthews are best buddies with the players.

Of course.

But even you must have a tinge of sadness should ND get the sack and disappear from our screens. At least he has a personality, and knows how to handle the media and what they're for.

That said, I'll be the first to wave goodbye if we get a decent premiership coach hungry to have a crack at this list.

Daniher is FANTASTIC at promoting and being the face of the club.

I'm sure that the players all really like him and respect him, which is great.

He's helped develop and build a strong list.

He comes across as a really nice guy.

But...

He can't coach.

Farnkly, I don't think he handles the media at all well.

But yes Dappa , I'll join you in the ticker tape parade should the day come. ;)

he's been around ten years...he's not effective

Not only is that amusing...but you'd probably stand a chance of being selected if you were listed with MFC.

Also of concern was the Craig Hutchinson story with Russell Robertson in relation to his knee injury.

6 weeks was absolute best case scenario, but 8 weeks was likely, with 10 weeks being the worst.

It is obviously more severe than first thought.

Which begs the question as to why he was allowed to return to the field again after the initial injury???

Things just keep getting better.

real scenario....

time taken to get over injury..

add time for getting match fitness and up to speed.

A speedy recovery Robbo :-)

These things have a habit of hurting short term but strengthening long term, by way of getting games into the up'n'comers. Next week I would hope for the inclusions of Sylvia to play a forward role with Dunny & Pickett also returning to stiffen our resolve.

I have never believed that we're ready for a flag in '07, but to make top 4 or 5.

But '08 has always been the year I think suits our list the most, then '10/'11.

HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
