Robbo and Neita both had knee scans, but no results yet.

Apperantly both are likely to miss up to a month according to Ch. 9.

Neita seemed to be walking ok, but Robbo was on crutches.

On the bright side, only 20 more rounds of this crap

If that's true, you would have to say that rules us out of top 4 calculations. I think the best we can hope for in this situation is the finals. Neitz and Robbo are our two main targets inside 50. It's like taking Judd and Kerr out of West Coast.

What an opportunity for someone to make a name for themselves in our forward line. Who's willing to put up their hand & take control & leadership?

This will show which current players have heart & which young kid has courage.

What a way of looking at the glass half full. With Robbo, Neitz and Brock out until at least round 6 or 7, we need to be at worst 3-3 or 3-4 by that stage to have some chance. Maybe 2-4. But not 2-5.

The forwards that have to come in will ALL be young'uns no matter which way you look at it. Miller, PJ, Newton, Dunn... only Holland and White could be considered tall forward options of a higher age..

For this reason alone I'm pumped. How good would it be if Tomahawk came out and got smashed by Carroll, then Newton bags 4 in a half? Wishful thinking? You betcha! the musings of a man who's lost all sanity when it comes to the dees.

But I love your optimism!!!!

You're mistaken. Not optimism. Sheer, Blind, Balls-out insanity.

I'm sitting here having torn out what grey hair I had left cackling into a pitcher of scotch and anti-depressants.

I'm turning into Yze_magik.

Wishful thinking all right. This team has won 3 of its last 11 (and drawn one). What we've seen so far is only commensurate with such a record. We've all been hoodwinked again.

From MELBOURNEfc:

General Manager Football Operations, Chris Fagan said; "David (Neitz) has a slight tear of the right medial ligament and will unfortunately miss the next three to four weeks.

"Russell (Robertson) jarred his left knee after landing awkwardly during the last quarter on Monday. There is a fair amount of swelling, and tests today have confirmed that he has extensive bone bruising and will miss at least four weeks of football. We will know the full extent of the injury following further tests and assessment later in the week.

"Clint (Bartram) injured his knee on Saturday, there has been some swelling of the left knee and bone bruising, and he will need further reviewing over the next few days to assess how much football he may miss."

Agreed.

It will be very interesting to see how Daniher will approach this. I think we will either see him play 'safe' with Bruce, Green and Yze spending a lot of the game up foward to be options; or take a more risky approach and play P Johnson or Ferguson (who can't break into the side in their own rights as a ruckmen and defender respectively) and give them a chance to relish.

Neitz and Robertson are big losses, but this is AFL football - you need to be able to adapt and respond to any situation. Players get injured, suspended or experience form slumps all the time and good sides will respond. You only need to look at the Bulldogs last year...

Real test of character lies ahead for many players and to honest its exciting - time to find out who can step up and who are really th passengers in this side.

On Channel 7 news(sport), it was also reported that Wheatley had injured his shoulder, and Moloney his groin. The reporter didn't say If any weeks would be missed.

I don't recall seeing any of these guys injured on Monday, so it may be garbage. But If true, a lot of changes for this week.

Did anybody else see the report?

Clint Bartram apparently has had surgery to repair a cartiledge, presumably arthroscopic, so I would imagine he'll miss 3 matches or more.

Wheatley seemend to pop his shoulder yesterday. however, he did return to the field.

Even though he was able to complete the match it doesnt mean he wont miss matches. hopefully not, he was ripper form for Sandy from all reports and a very handy player when in form. Another that could be thrown forward at a pinch with Neita and Robba out.

I think the same could be said for our midfield. Its a big ask for a young kid to do what so called talented experienced players take short cuts on.

They will need to play some height up forward and Bruce despite his appalling disposal will be needed in the midfield.

Neitz is a big loss and Robbo is too with the big fella out. It will be interesting to see what happens. For the record, the Bullies game is paced on pace and running. While they did lose Darcy and co they did managed to have a suprising number of core players who played every game last year.

Its a real test of character but I think we know who the passengers are........Its a matter of who steps up.

If EVER there was a chance for a fringe player to step up and make their case heard it is now. We are missing so many forwards, there are so many chances for a someone to step up and grab a spot in the best 22.

If dunny were ready to go i would back him. I think the door is open for bizz....in the forwardline.

Neita and robbo will miss 4 weeks, but we will be given an idea of our forward set up post neita and robbo era.

Let us hope some of the kids such as newton, dunny (maybe hughes if bartram misses more time) can step up and play forward.

Robbo going into surgery to have the knee looked at.

Said on the Footy Show he's hoping for 6 weeks, but could be up to 10.

to be realistic...they dont know how much damage really.. ( til the scope ).

For: he does like to get back into it quickly

Against : He does like to get back into it quickly ( and he might just rush things )

A serious hole in our armoury..
