Powa got exposed for being the brittle, soft front runners they are.

Allir Allir goes missing against the best teams and gets exposed big time.

Will be a cracking GF.

Here's a question...Who was worse, Cats or Power? I reckon Power at least the Cats seemed to be trying?!

Cats were outplayed Port never turned up at all. Would have spent the week reading the local papers.

Yes in the last game I was screaming at the TV (as insane as it is)

“who’s on Daniel. Goodwin wake up. He’s killing us”

34 possessions across half back.  Sets up play.  Maybe Sparrow plays as a defensive half

Whoever it is needs to hit him hard. Make him second guess his attack on the footy.

This will probably go down like a lead balloon.

If fit I would bring in Joel Smith to play on Naughton.  He is the only one with the athleticism to go with him.  It's a perfect match up   I would bring him in for Hibberd who has been solid but he is clearly slowing down and is now limited athletically.

I would like to see Hunt come back in as well.  Trent Rivers has had some very good moments and several very shaky ones.  I believe Hunt will give us a little bit more speed which will be important both offensively and defensively against the dogs.

We will probably remain unchanged.

I can’t believe I am  saying this, but physically Smith is a better matched opponent to Naughton than May. Naughton is far more athletic than May. May is more suited  to the Hawkins types. Maybe Petty will get Naughton.

Anyway, that said, I don’t think Smith will play. I think the only possible in is Hunt and it could be an unlucky JJ if that happened.

Naughtons body strength will be too much for Smith.

I think Smith will be seriously considered, and personally I'd like him to match up on Schache to release Lever.

But I don't think we can fit him in on teams form.

First I don’t think we will risk 2 just recently injured players and May just has to play. To me that means no Smith. Hunt of course was injured weeks ago but really should be fully fit and it wasn’t a hamstring. IMO Hunt is the only possible change barring a training mishap and it could only be for Hibbo, JJ or Sparrow. Sparrow seems on the inner now and Hibbo played well on Cameron, who may have been ill.

So I think it’s an outside chance of Hunt for JJ or Hibbo, or more likely no change.

For those focused on Daniel.  Have a look at Duryea's game in rnd 19.  He has gone under the radar.  Daniel gets noticed by his high disposal count but Duryea did more damage.

I'd be sending James Harmes straight to Bailey Smith. he's been the match winner the last 2 games. if you can at least prevent him from kicking goals, you go a long way to blunting the dogs.

The Powa got jumped big style and were like stunned bunnies in the spotlight.

They looked lethargic and missed targets by foot willy nilly once heat is applied to the Powa they got to water, no back bone whatsoever.

Western Bulldogs are a glamour side. They look good when things are going well. We need to apply fierce pressure. I think we should gamble on Hunt. Smith is some way off with his injury.

Backline is the only area that can see a change.
Do we bring in Hunt or Smith to combat their small quick forwards? How fit is May?

I am still keen to bring Hunt in. Rivers hasn’t been at his best in finals. Where’s Bowey was sensational on Friday and his kicking was seriously elite. Would be a big call to drop Rivers.
Does Hibbo go out for Smith?

For me I would look at bringing Hunt for Hibbo. Or at least make Hunt the sub.

Absolutely zero chance there will be a change unless somehow May doesn't get up. Put it in the book. Hunt is not coming in

Spargo to Daniel for mine. ANB is important further up the ground as a link up player with his hard running. Fritta too important as a target and goal scoring option. Spargo doesn’t get many touches, but he does make the most of them around goal. He’s also comfortable moving further up the ground and tackles hard when he gets the chance. Get him to put the clamps on Daniel and then take his opportunities if they arise.

I saw Daniels totally towel up Spargo in a preseason game a year ago and it wasnt pretty. ANB to make life hard for mine

Spargo has improved significantly since the start of the year.

You must have missed our win against against doggies where he and ANB limited Bailey Dale and Caleb Daniels influence?

Not forgotten that Dazzle but just want Daniel totally locked down and I think although Spargo has improved would rather ANB get the gig

While I think most likely no change, if anything happens will be Hunt in for:

- Jordan as medisub or

- Hunt in for Rivers, Riv to medisub, which would be harsh after his year

- Hibberd was very solid Friday night

- Sparrow had a very solid finals campaign

Whilst I don't know if we'll make a change, I do think we know the following:

  1. Daw isn't going to be the sub
  2. TMac is going to play defence (unless we have no other options, which means both May and Smith are ruled unfit)
  3. Hunt isn't going to play forward

I thinkl May will be fine to play. Early this year Petty went off with  similar Hamstring tightness. Played the following week. May has 2 weeks to get right.

Probably to risky to swap Smith (recent hammy) for Hibberd. If May did not have the tightness Smith would have been seriously considered.

No change for me.

This is a good point about Smith and his recent hammy, because I was thinking he'd be the best medi sub for flexibility, but maybe Hunt offers the most flexibility? You'd hate to lose May to a hammy and then sub on Smith who then tears one too, and be down man.

Really, what's the word on Smith?

We'd potentially have to move McDonald down back.

He was moved there when they subbed May off so it's definitely in the back of the coaches mind.

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.
