This is for interstate fans that can get into WA for the GF.  I contacted the club re member ticketing priorities.

They advised people can still buy an 'Access Membership' for $49 which gives Priority 3 opportunity to GF tickets.

One of our posters here mentioned that GF participating teams are allocated 10 to 15K tickets.  I would be surprised if we have that many i/state members to use up the Priority 1, 2 and 3 allocations.  We may not make the GF but a $49 'Access Membership' may be the best chance to buy a ticket.

As an aside, the 'Access Membership' gives member priority to buy a ticket during the 'pre-sales' period for the Preliminary final ie before tickets at Optus are available for public purchase.

So Tassie, NT, SA and WA folk, buy the $49 membership this week and go to both games!

I wasn't able to find a link to Membership packages so it may be best to call/email the club if i/state fans are interested.

Booked from Qld just one fall in the risk category and where there. Was that confident paid the premium up front this year for guaranteed tickets. So hoping COVID doesn’t blow our chances. There also the small matter of preliminary final.

I changed the heading to make it more obvious it is for i/state fans.

I know, just lamenting. Was quite happy seeing happy Dees fans in the crowd last week, hopefully the same continues for the rest of the season.

I'm hoping to see a very happy Wiz in the crowd GF day.

So if you already have a membership you can purchase this access membership for another possible ticket?

I would say so but check the club.

The Access Membership is Priority 3 so it may differ to that of an existing membership.  My recollection of 2018 finals is that lower priority tickets could not be bought simultaneously with higher priorities so seating may not be together (if both are successful in getting a ticket).

How would the tiers of membership be allocated into Priority 1,2,3 in your mind Lucifer?

I bought a four-game membership mid-year (I'm a [censored] fan for full membership, but have lived overseas most of my life, and did buy the AFL access pass thing through the club previously), right before the Melbourne shut down. I was hoping to pass it on. I don't recall there being a grand final option. Is 'Access Membership' the same thing? I recall paying about $120.

I'm not sure how Luci sees it, but I know the club allocate the priority according to years of membership.  Hence if you sign up today you will only be Level 3, but assuming that there aren't that many Level 1 or 2 members in WA (probably less than 200) then if the club is allocated 10K tickets you are a shoe in to be able to access  a GF ticket.

I'm trying to remember how 2018 worked.  I think it went like this:

Priority 1.  Memberships that had a GFG:  Redlegs, Legends, and GFG add ons.  I think there were some types also in this category.

Priority 2.  Regular Home, Home and Away memberships, of which there are various categories.  Plus some others.

Priority 3.  All other memberships eg 3 game memberships, Country memberships etc.  I can't recall if we had 'Access Memberships' back then.

There were fixed time slots for each priority group to purchase.

But this could well have changed especially as the GF is not at the G and ticketing could be very different.

So best to contact the club.  I've found they are responding to emails within 24 hours.

As an aside, In 2018 my niece had a 3-game membership and I, a Redlegs membership.  The only way we could sit together was if I dropped down to Priority 3 and booked it with hers.  While we didn't make it to the GF I wanted to ensure that if we ever did she could go too so since then I've bought her a Redlegs.   Little did I know that even if we made the GF covid would upset that little plan.  Murphy's Law.

Edit:  Just saw @grazmanpost.  Now I'm really doubting my memory.  Best to check the club.

I think you are right re the levels, but there was definitely a time factor in there as my wife and I had the same membership, but she met me later in life so I had a good 20 years more membership than she did so I was Priority 2 and she was Priority 3.    We both now have guaranteed GF tickets, but it matters nought in a Covid world.

I also think there might be a cut-off when people can purchase memberships to stop people gaming the system.

I just contacted the club to ask about my current chances to get a GF ticket and possible upgrades.

They told me that on my current membership (country/interstate), I am placed in priority 2, and I can upgrade to a GF guarantee for $229.

I'm debating whether or not I need the upgrade if I'm already priority 2, considering half the country can't go.

Obviously I have no idea of your financial situation, but for roughly $200 to guarantee a chance to see our first premiership in 57 years…that sounds like a steal to me.

Im on Priority 2 as well. The only reason I did not pay the full amount is that we maybe on the verge on another outbreak in SA, if we get one case then Dictator MacGowan will close the border on us as well.

Seems right to me. I downgraded to an interstate membership in 2018 and was disappointed to find out that it was only priority 3. 20+ years automatically gives you priority 2 if you have a 3 game.

I'm also in SA. I think I'm going to wait closer to the date to see if I need to pay the extra. Already have my flights to Perth and accommodation sorted, just need some good luck and some good footy from the Dees now.

Yes I was thinking of doing the same Dedringer, im assuming the airlines costs is refundable?

Do you know if there a cut off date for the Priority 1 queue?

They didn't mention one but I assumed it would be up until tickets go on sale.

My airfares are able to be cancelled and put into credit up until pretty much the day of the flight. No refunds but that's ok, I'll be flying back to Melbourne at some point and could use them then.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team.
