Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Geelong request change of venue

Heh! I was there for that game in amongst the Geelong supporters. Staring off into the middle distance for 3 and half quarters.

I've said it a few times here, but the comeuppance was when they celebrated Corey Enright's 300 *prior* to the match with plenty of fanfare. It felt like they believed the home win was a foregone conclusion.

If I recall Bernie Vince played a blinder down here and we won by perhaps 3 goals. It was deathly silence. And instead of staring off into the middle distance... I stared every [censored] in the eye... ?

Anyway, 186 wasn't Geelong's doing. It was the MFC's doing.

Only ground in Victoria i aint been to. Can't say it's on Any list to complete either. Happy to play them in a Final at the G.

It’s a joke that all Victorian clubs don’t have to play there like us. But that aside, you can’t just move venues at the drop of a hat. The AFL is dealing with so much trying to keep the season going.
Geelong’s minor inconvenience is literally the last of anyone’s concerns. That they even bring it up right now shows what a complete bunch of arrogant self centered [censored] they are.

This is happening literally every week.

There's merit to your argument that the AFL has better things to think about than this, but it's not that much of a strain on the AFL to move this game.

And if the shoe was on our foot, there's no way you'd call it a "minor inconvenience". I mean, look at how we reacted to being asked to play in Darwin.

I’m not sure how you can compare playing in Darwin at short notice versus playing at the MCG, a ground where Geelong will be playing finals in a few short weeks, and a ground that is literally an hour drive away! It’s actually not a disadvantage to play at the G!
It might seem like a simple thing to move venues, but it’s not. Even with no crowds ground staff would be booked, broadcasting would be planned, security etc. just because it’s happening all the time now doesn’t make it easy. It’s happening out of absolute necessity. Moving Geelong’s game is not a necessity. It’s just another headache the AFL has rightly chosen to ignore.

Edit: it was apparently denied due to commercial signage and the MCC agreement the AFL has in place. As I said, it’s not that simple to move games. It’s only happening out of sheer necessity.

They just don't stop their whinging.  Again it is about venue - playing in Hobart this week.

"Geelong coach Chris Scott has labelled it “a bit strange” his side could travel with North Melbourne to Tasmania next week to play in Round 20...As far as we’re aware. It’s a bit strange that we’ve got two Victorian teams getting on a plane in this environment but that seems to be the program.”

We shared a flight with North in the last covid lockdown on a FIFO basis.  Fair to both teams.  So Scott should get with the program and do their bit.  Unreasonably selfish - their last 3 games are at GMHBA and are complaining about a one hour flight to Hobart and completely oblivious to the '000,000 dollars North will get for the game.

Whilst I agreed with them seeking to move their Richmond home game to GMHBA, I agree with you on this: clubs have been flying all over Australia over the last two months, with Sydney and GWS sharing a plane at least once.

This sort of stuff cheapens their legitimate gripes: fingers crossed if we end up finishing in the top 4 slated to play away to them in the first final, this comes back to bite them!

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
