While the game day thread can do your head in, there is an unwritten Demonland law that “whatever happens on the game day thread, stays on the game day thread” and anything you say should not be used against you.

The first rule of Game Day thread is: you do not talk about Game Day thread. The second rule of Game Day thread is: you DO NOT talk about Game Day thread!

Good few days for one of our sponsors with Thursday night on national television with their motif pasted on the back of our jumper and then emblazoned on the chest of Ash Barty on Saturday night at her away game.

The people who organised who receives Jaguar sponsorship money will be happy

Did anyone else watch The Round So Far on the AFL website over the weekend?

Kane Cornes (yes, I know, but hear me out) highlighted something Gawn did against Port using behind the goals vision: we had a forward 50 stoppage but Gawn left it to sprint out of our forward line to go stand on Dixon, freeing up May to play the last line of defence. Apparently that's something Gawn did that more than once.

Just a shout out to our superstar captain who should comfortably collect his fifth AA jacket this year, and deservedly so for doing selfless team stuff like this (alternatively/jointly a shout out to our coaches for getting this sort of stuff to happen).

My biggest gripe about our leadership in previous year has been our lack of 'organizational leadership'. Gawn's a ripper bloke, Viney is heart and soul, TMac, ANB etc great trainers, but we didn't really have anyone leading the onfield talk and directing players/structure. For mine, one of the biggest things this year has been how amazing the entire team has been at this, lead by those some players and a few more.

Tonight's 'Four Corners' ain't no post-game antidote for Port...

I am still up about this game six days later. To win away from home, in a hostile environment and against a good team with a fair bit to prove was fantastic. It is up there I reckon with the Bulldogs game for the best win of the year

Jake Lever is an absolute gun in this space, having him consistently on the field, along with Steven May has made a huge difference in more than just the amazing roles they're playing.

Yep 100%, Lever's done that since day one, but have also noticed blokes like Gus, ANB, Kozzy, Trac and more all directing now and it's a massive part of why our zone works so well this year IMO. Gus in particular has really lifted with his onfield talk.

I guess sometime the question will need to be asked - when Tommo gets up and about 2022, where do we fit him, Harry, Lever and May in?

Harry forward maybe?  Would he be trainable as (also) a back up ruck?

Right now i reckon i've seen enough to suggest Harry has gone past Tommlinson as a player. and another few rounds, final campaign, flag, Norm Smith and then a full pre season, i think he'll be pretty settled in the team.

Awsome to see.

If his body had held up Trenners could have been a good captain.

But gee Big Maxy is a great one.  Loved hearing him respond to a question from the Eddy or someone on the Fox Footy panel, when he was interviewed post match.  The conversation was about how Kossie had seemingly pulled himself out of a form slump and got himself up to put in a great game against the Power and the question asked of Max was "What did you say to him as captain to get him up for the game?".  Taking absolutely no self credit, Max deflected the premise of the question and proceeded to talk with words to the effect of what an incredible contributor Kossie was to the MFC and how great his performances were and how he had been so amazingly reslilant in the context of the family tragedy that he had been through at the start of the year and how it would be great for him to hopefully get to spend a bit of time with them over the weekend as well.

In the same interview, Max had a bit of a laugh at himself for getting his head sat on in that screemer the Port bloke took on his head, then had a rye dig at Jake Lever for pushing the Port player up there and a laugh about it with Steven May.

His work ethic and commitment on the track are elite, his onfield performances are amazing, his work with the media helps elevate the marketability of the MFC and his social and emotional connection with his teammates is sensational and his leadership has us playing the best, most disiplined team first footy that I've ever seen from the MFC.  He totally respects the MFC history and great players and personalities.

Hard to think of a better MFC captain that we've had in a long time.  Another diamond in the rough.

Congratulations on 150 games big Gawn dog.

Barrett and Lloyd on Monday showed vision of Max leaving a throw in in our forward pocket and running 100 metres to take Dixon so May was free to roam and pick off the ball coming out.

They pointed out how good his leadership is, and it did occur to me that’s probably why May looks so wide open and alone when on TV you can’t see that going on behind the ball.

EDIT: with apologies to Titan, who already pointed this out and noted the right segment!!

Tomlinson is much more versatile and it’s a ripping problem to have to put him wherever the hell we like that we think he can fill a need.

having said that, not sure I agree Petty is better quite yet.
