Was quite quiet and eery atmosphere early. Very few in attendance. It picked up after half time. I think the tipping point in momentum was when the brisbane lions cheers squad leader went [censored] up and fell down a few rows of seating. ?? Boys grinded hard and got on top.  Lachie Neale is as big a downhill skier Ive seen. And Dayne Zorko, Well Tommy Mac sorted that goose out then showed class and gave the midget a hand up.

We are a different club to what weve all become accustomed to. Signs of a great club and Petracca ???

Great username ???

Have always enjoyed the result, it's the journey that still worries me when it is happening. I am sure large part of the problem is having to watch on TV. I have never liked watching games on tv. Nothing like being there.

I find it far more stressful watching on tv. Can't see what's happening up the field and without the crowd to alleviate the tension.

Just had the misfortune of watching Saturday Countdown and Derm “jokingly” asked Brayshaw if Oliver throws it more than Tom Brady.

I don’t normally get upset about media but it just showed complete and utter disrespect for not only Oliver, but also Brayshaw and a team that is 11 and 1.

I dare say Derm wouldn’t have asked it to a player from a “big” club. It just feels like a lot of the media are having a hard team getting it through their head that we are the best right now.

He loves the little digs at us, that's all right just keep plugging away and eventually they'll have no choice BUT to respect us.

Agree with all but I thought the Charlie Cameron one was there although "tiggytouchwood". Fortunately ANB got it back straight away. Lions got 3-4 soft frees around the 4m mark.

They got a few in the second out of the centre which helped them retain momentum when I think we had started to turn things a little.

Speaking of handballing, anyone else notice Petracca’s handballing has improved this year? Great long HBs that cut through the pack

Watching it on anything is total stress for me: recall, I am a post 1959 veteran of wearing wines and losses and draws on both cheeks.

You’re not doing drinking wine properly. ? Is more effective when you actually put it in your mouth.

Yep, the show opened today and Hudson started by basically saying how impressive Melbourne were last night and Dermie said something like 'well, yes, we have a big day of football to come'. The bloke's facial surgery has permeated his brain. King of the muppets and the rest of the commentators seem embarrassed to be working with him. They're quite rightly, dismissive of him.

Another rising star this week?

Sparrow had 19 touches at 80%, 5 tackles and the sealing goal.

The lad can play. Glad to see he took his chance tonight.

Agree. If only just to give bombers the [censored]

I was like Gaz. I had Ed asleep on my lap in the last quarter. Twelve weeks old, eleven Melbourne wins. Anyway, I couldn't cheer when we kicked goals because I'd wake him, but I welled up and fist pumped instead, just like my old man does when we have a stirring passage and/or victory.

Take care of Ed mate. He could be our lucky charm!

He was condescending towards Richmond for years. Not so much any more. He loves a whipping boy and until we have ultimate success we will be one of them.

He is campaigning hard on the throwing thing. Goes after the Dogs players for it as well, not just Claz. Perhaps I’m biased cause I didn’t see many if any throws in that vision.

I think the key to Dermie is not take him too seriously. But I understand getting riled up over the lack of respect. BT is a prime offender which would be tolerable if he wasn’t such a dumb oaf at the same time.

It's funny you mention those two, they are clearly a part of the older crew of commentators/experts who are part of the "old boys" club. They all have the same outdated attitudes, not just towards the way they speak but also towards the game. They constantly talk about "in years gone by" and the way they used to play, they need to be reminded by younger commentators and former players that the game has changed.

It's actually embarrassing at times to hear them speak.

Genuine question:  their Rucks (mainly Daniher) would continually push ours in the back in the ruck contest. Surely thats not allowed or is it ?

That show is the offcuts from Crunch time, which is a far better Revamped sat morning listen now with Leppitsch, Whately.. sometimes Healy, Jordan Lewis, Huddo.... And not Derm, Robbo, King etc ?

Loved the astonished look on Hipwood’s face the moment he’s finally called for a push in the back…?

And it’s a pretty weird face to start off with…..

Watching the replay, Petracca seemed pretty filthy with TMac for taking the goal in the final quarter. I'm not suggesting anything bad about it, TMac kicked a great goal, and I'm pretty sure Trac got over it pretty quickly. It was just funny seeing the look of Trac's face!

It was bad but typical Tom to not give that one off. I don't think it's selfishness but more just the way he plays. If he sees a way for him to get a kick generally that's what he does.

The funny thing is Tracc isn't exactly one to handball in that situation either.

Overall I'd like to see a bit more sharing from our forwards, it's something to work on, particularly if we can ever get an easy kill (not that I'm complaining).

We've improved so much with the tap ons or blocks to free other players up, there's probably just another step to go to nail that ability to give the right amount of handballs or square up kicks.

Also, watching the replay I think people may have judged Weid a little harshly. Much like the rest of the team (particularly the forward line) he was barely sighted in the first half, second half he was much more involved and took some good contested marks. His kicking wasn't great, but clunking some strong grabs might just give him a bit of a confidence boost. We can't wait for ever for everything to click, but maybe it isn't as far away as we might think.

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
