This will be interesting for footy next year.

Nett result may be no games in WA. I wonder how that sits for the WA public.

Did we? And are they?

Three more questions: How do you know? Has it been stated somewhere?

And most importantly, does it matter?

ScoMo announced it yesterday. The one million Pfizer doses left Warsaw on I think Sunday morning. They were due to arrive in Aus wee hours this morning. Of the one million, 530,000 are going to NSW, the remainder to be split up among the other states. As for payment, as I read it, there wasn’t any. The Polish president figured it’s better to give them to another nation than to throw them out. And if there is some form of payment, does that make a difference?

Kudos to the Polish president. That's leadership.

Did i just hear a 2 week extension in Vic?

and talk of a possible 9pm ro 5am curfew too

confirmed 2 week extension until 2nd Sept with curfew as people cannot follow rules and continue to even have engagement parties indoors with no masks

won't even be able to watch the finals at the pub

this sucks

Back to watching games on Zoom with friends, what a shame.

That being said, not sure how much fun i would be to be around if we do make the big dance.

I am [censored] furious right now. Another two weeks (at least) of lockdown along with a curfew from 9pm to 5am. I get that we need to have this in place and I’m still gonna abide by all the rules as I have done all along. BUT… these selfish [censored] gathering in large groups to party, not a mask in sight and of course zero social distancing, are killing all hope of us having freedoms restored. Sixty-nine selfish cretins gathered for an engagement party. Moreover, it’s since been confirmed there was an infected person amongst them. And in Richmond a heap of people gathered outside a pub to drink and party. Again, [censored] selfish. Another dance party was organised with 1000 ppl on the invitation list!
Then you compare that to @old dee’s granddaughter missing out on her birthday party coz her family are doing the right thing. It’s mind blowing that ppl can be so manifestly self-centred and oblivious to everyone else’s situations.
Thank you DL for somewhere to vent.  😠

Should the AFL cancel round 23, and get the current top 8 to WA to commence finals weekend of 3/4 Sept?

Does this mean AFL matches can’t go beyond 9pm and all matches need to end prior?

There would be no crowd, and the players and staff would be able to get exemption with work permits

The Bye has been scrapped. So the Bulldogs v Power game is critical

Playing devils advocate here but if I was the CHO I would ask why permits are needed for a job that can be performed outside of curfew hours.

Vent away, hard to disagree with any of that. We can thank them all the GF being interstate in 2021

Sounds the. Best option to me.

Not sure if serious?

The top 8 isn't currently set. It's not fair, in the extreme, to shut West Coast and Fremantle out of their shots at the 8.

The more so given St Kilda v Fremantle and Brisbane v West Coast are match ups that haven't yet happened this year.

yes serious. But they have just announced that the bye round has been scrapped, so not going to happen. But given that they want to play finals in front of crowds (well 17 clubs anyway!), it is now extremely unlikely there will be finals in Victoria in 2 weeks. And I do think the 8 is set, it would be a brave punter to bet that Brisbane and Essendon will lose this week

Hopefully West Coast and Fremantle miss finals and the AFL can put up a hard border to WA until about April next year

Interesting that Poland's vaccination rate is one of the slowest in the EU

https://covidvax.live/location/eu

Yeah, considering they don’t seem fussed by what type of vaccine they take. (There’s no anti-AZ sentiment there.) I’m guessing this is why they have so much Pfizer that’s close to use-by date.

I just want to say that as a Jewish person, I am disgusted at what has gone on in that community. A community that I have purposefully distanced myself from. But I can tell you categorically that the large majority of the Jewish community are furious. The video of the party was leaked and sent to authorities by the community. The $350,000 of collective fines and the massive contract tracing efforts have only been made possible because good law abiding members of that community were not willing to protect these idiots.

The outrage is real and I hope that the greater Victorian community can see that those people are a minority of selfish [censored] who use their religious radicalism to justify their [censored] behaviour in all walks of life.

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.
