It is being reported that Shane Warne has tested positive in London.  He has had both Pfizer shots.

A reminder that no-one is 'safe'.  And no vaccine is fool proof.  Not that anyone claims they are.

I just hope Warne is ok and that it encourages people to go and get any approved vaccine.  It is the only protection there is.

so what are the actual quarantine requirements for the team in WA.

Are they stil training etc?

I think we are allowed to train, but that is about it.

Strong chance Brisbane won’t be able to play anymore home and away games in QLD given the government just extended their lockdown. Good for us!

I think Brisbane are cooked in terms of top 4.

We'd have to go 0-3 to finish below them, provided they go 3-0.

From The AGE:

"Martin Pakula, speaking to reporters this morning, said Premier Daniel Andrews had already indicated the grand final would be played in Victoria at the MCG....

“There’s a lot of work to do. We’ve got effectively about eight weeks ’til the grand final now … so we’ve got a little bit of time, but it’s creeping up on us.”

He said it was safe to predict that the crowd measures at AFL games going forward would be “different” than it was previously, but “it is possible” crowds will return next weekend."

My hope LH is that it stops me from dying all benefits after that are a bonus. Second shot last Friday no after effects.

Well I hope the rest of the adult population is as diligent as your good self, od.

The Qld CHO is not softening her stance on AZ and 'younger' people.  Terrible advice without context on risks for and against ,especially as the ATAGI is supporting it in NSW because risks have increased.  Terrible leadership.

Comes across as having drawn a line she (rather stubbornly in my book) is going to stick to it.  She only needs to look across the border at the number of under 60 yo who have died or are in hospital.

Next weekend as in 6/7/8 August?

Or next weekend as in 13/14/15 August?

The article didn't say but I assumed 6/7/8 August.

Either way we can get to see Adelaide game at the G.

Anyone know if the Eagles are quarantined for 7 days at the moment? I assume they are since they were in Melbourne on the weekend.

I believe they are required to quarantine at home for 14 days, except training and games.

Last week a Freo coach was stood down for leaving home several times last week.

Thanks LH. The 14 days actually makes sense. Not the pseudoscience, arbitrary 7 days of Victorian clubs.

The vaccines were never designed to prevent infection just limit the incubation period, hence reducing the symptoms. Don't see how this information is suggesting that there is no fool proof vaccine.

Snap WA Covid Presser has just been called. Get back on the plane Dees!

Update: Case in WA low viral load, not that big of a concern

Weak positive, I guess lockdowns/no crowds will all rest on those close contact test results.

Hopefully the game can go ahead without a crowd. Big stroke of luck for us if it does

A postponement would be a bad outcome

Again, 1000 to 5000 of the Grand final crowd is not hyperbole it's a significant risk.

I acknowledge things have changed, but the median death rate late last year (about half way to where we are now), was  0.27%.

For under 70s it was 0.00% to 0.31% (median 0.05%).  If anyone has current peer reviewed mutli sample studies I'd appreciate a link.

Reportedly a teacher from Al Taqwa College Werribee

Either that is super unlucky or people who work and attend that college have learnt nothing from last year. A super spreading community if ever there was one. Unbelievable.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
