G'day Fellow Demons Supporters!

With the unfortunate news that Brock McLean will be out for around 6 weeks its time for our other young gun midfielder to rise to the occasion.

Thats right....its time for Colin Sylvia to STEP UP!!!

ive always rated colin higher than brock .... not performance wise just potential im sure he can step up he has shown us some of his best footy from time to time....

maybe he can step up and prove he is a potential leader for the future?

Posted

Agreed that its a perfect time for Col to step up. Unfortunately, given he has only played half a game for Sandy so far this year, it maybe asking a bit much of the bloke.

Posted

I would love that to happen, we've really only seen glimpses of what he can do. Early last year was probably the best i've seen him play. Title of the thread says it all!

Posted

Hang on guys. He is just returning from a fair lay off from OP.

A couple of weeks ago he would be ready for Round 4. What's changed to rush him ahead of schedule at risk to his fitness?

I dont see him as a replacement for Brock.

If he fit he would be replacing Yze immediately up forward.

Posted

From what I've seen he's not quite there yet. No sense in ruching him, but a fit Col would have been sensational on the weekend as a target. I'd be surprised if he played this week, but pending his performance at Sandy, perhaps the week after, or in a fortnight? Depends on how we go on Monday too.

Posted

yes

Sit him in the goalsquare next to Neitz and Davey

Just bring him back!!

Posted

Actually, he might be. That's how he played at Sandy, and he was pretty good.

But if he played you'd get only 3 quarters out of him. And the square is already taken up by Neita and Robbo, can Sylvia fit in there? Will he be a decent target? It's a big if.

Posted

let robbo play up the ground a bit more, i think it would be better just to say to sylvia, play the 50 arc and dont leave it, get some match fitness and kick us a bag!

whats the alternatives???? not much really

Posted

i would hate to risk him but if he is OK to go, use him at a permanent forward. he can be a great target.

just think back to the game at the gabba last year where he was basically a pseudo CHF.

he would have been very useful on friday, because one on one he'll win most times.

I have said in more than one thread thta 07 is the year for colin. I stand by that.

He will be given a chance to shine, and I honestly think he will be up to it this year.

I think Colin will be the most improved player this year.

CJ will prop up, and i HONESTLY believe that buckley will push for selection if he stays fit.

Nice youth to look forward to in 07

2024 Player Reviews: #36 Kysaiah Pickett

The Demons’ aggressive small forward who kicks goals and defends the Demons’ ball in the forward arc. When he’s on song, he’s unstoppable but he did blot his copybook with a three week suspension in the final round. 2024 Player Reviews: #1 Steven May

The years are rolling by but May continued to be rock solid in a key defensive position despite some injury concerns. He showed great resilience in coming back from a nasty rib injury and is expected to continue in that role for another couple of seasons. It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield. There could be more of that in 2025.
