Big call: Big call after tipping us for the premiership?  Hmm...

Gawn, Petracca and Oliver will be considered the top three players in the game by the end of the year.  Legends will be sung.

At some point Charlie Cameron will kick 30 goals in a run of six or seven games.

Edit:  Adding one more thought - there will be a lot of teams with very few wins and very poor percentage this year.  Think 2016; seven teams with 15+ wins, a couple of stragglers 3 games behind that competing for the also-ran status in finals, then nothing worth remembering

Ladder prediction:
1. Brisbane
2. West Coast
3. Richmond
4. Melbourne
5. Geelong
6. Footscray
7. Port Adelaide
8. St Kilda or Carlton or loose change

...I hadn't actually paid any attention to that, but now that you bring it up, I'm thinking you wouldn't be really unhappy about being proven wrong there 😂.

To be honest, it hasn't surprised me at all to see the decline of the likes of Collingwood, Geelong, West Coast and to an extent Richmond.  All those teams have a large number of key players on their lists who have slowly fossilized over the past few seasons.  I've been somewhat expecting our list to deliver in their mental maturity for a few seasons now as I think that was the only thing holding us back and now that it seems to have clicked in that respects, I fully expect to blow the aforementioned teams off the park more often than not, with the superior physical fitness that comes from our core players being in their prime window.

GO THE MIGHTY DEMONS!!

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 2 Jacob van Rooyen

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
