Watched the saints game live streamed as I had a mate playing.

They looked bloody good. Their recruits again are going to big factors for them this. Can easily see them pushing top 4.

Jack Higgins was close to BOG and Mason Wood kicked 4. Chip Frawley also played a pretty solid game and looks set to add further strength to their defence.

Butler and Higgins are going to create some serious chaos up forward.

Their ruthless recruiting for the past two years is paying off.

I read the other day they are the oldest list in the competition, even older than Geelong. They have certainly primed themselves for an immediate crack at it.

I also rate Ratten very highly. I personally would have loved him to take over post Roos, but it wasn't to be.

Tiny sample space but the scores appear up. None of this rubbish 60-42 games that blighted 2020.

Hoping the 98-83 Hawks v Dogs score from yeaterday is the norm for 2021.

Losing teams should be managing at least 75 points a game IMO.

North won't have much competition for the spoon you wouldn't think. Neeld-like years coming up for them

Agreed. They’ve traded for the now with regards to their last 2 off seasons and so far so good for them. They’ve got a clear strategy of trading for players that will have an immediate impact on them and it paid dividends for them last year.

You could argue we have tried to do that too - but alas they just get injured

They are very reliant on their senior core. Apparently Goldstein and Cunnington didn’t play? Saints had plenty out too but it affects weaker teams much more. I doubt they are that (Neeld) bad

i watched 5-10 minutes of the kangas-aints clash...i don't think north hit a single target by hand or foot in that time period, and dom tyson was caught cold holding the ball

saints' ball movement was slick and precise but they were under a scintilla of pressure

Unfortunately Dom Tyson was quiet bad. His ball use has gotten far worse. Really feel for the lad as he was a favourite of mine. But he'll be lucky to string 10 games this year.

Really sad how much he's diminished over the last few years.

Actually pretty much north’s entire first choice midfield was out

not talking just about this practice match.  they won 3 games last year, including losing 14 from the last 15.

traded out their best player/mid and best fwd. not sure how they will kick a goal. their list is horrible. Stevenson won't make much difference, he was a flash in the pan

I've heard from a mate that Geelong aren't manning the mark in certain parts of the ground. Instead they are remaining 5m behind the mark to allow them flexibility to move sideways.

Teams will quickly learn what other teams are doing and either copy or adjust. I guess practice matches are a good time to try out tactics like Geelong are doing. Good on them for thinking outside the box.
