Thanks for info Cc.

There is nothing on club website today on training session so am wondering if they have changed the schedule given it is at Casey and distance for players etc...just guessing.

Edit:  just checked club website and there wasn't anything there for last Friday.

Called the club again today.  Was put thru to answering service, again.  Left message asking for a call, again.  Have not heard back, again...'

...hope the club isn't missing out on membership calls!!

I know staffing is low but it is very frustrating to not receive a return call especially as the club advertised admin was re-opening on Mon Jan 11.  Will call again tomorrow...

Anyone on DL with direct contacts at the club?

Threaten to cancel your membership and they'll call your back pretty quickly.

I'm sorry, not sure how long you've been around demonland but I've got a long history of projecting accurately players careers and their trajectories. I didn't mention sparrow because I believe his 2 handed ball drop and lack of advertised on field pace will limit his potential and Jordan's lack of grit, strength and pace seems to be his downfall. I won't even back over the years and years of history where I have gone against the common views of biased demon supporters (i.e. that every player is a gun as soon as they're drafted) and analysed each player on their merit. When everyone was calling Pickett our next Cyril Rioli, I was the first one questioning as to why he is slipping over at every contest. I could go on for an eternity. I'm not being negative, im being realistic. We've missed finals since 2018 with Gawn, Oliver and, Petracca in the guts and an AA calibre Full back.  That means we either have significant holes all over the ground, or our coaching is completely inept or a combination of both.

I also don't read too much into the Yze appointment. I'll read into it greatly when he becomes the head coach. Until then, Goodwin has too much influence. If he has any influence, he has too much. I've seen more than enough from him to realise that he's lost the players and most of the fans.

Being a footy supporter isn't a tipping contest.

Being the first to criticise a first year player is not something to hang your hat on.

The thing I look for when considering the views of others is how they sum up their view based on evidence.

For the most part, having a strong view (either way) about our club is the first sign that the poster is unlikely to be considering the available evidence as there's usually not a lot of it.

Here's an example of a poor post(in my view):

Goodwin has lost the players.

...and here's a good one (regardless of whether I like the actual viewpoint):

Goodwin may have lost the players.

Our contested ball numbers and 1 percenters are down from the start of the year and the players' body language has been poor.

It's not about being negative or positive but providing a balanced view based on evidence. Being hyper-critical or overly glowing in praise - without evidence - is to make the same mistake.

Apologies for getting this conversation onto something training related but I’m starting to get really frustrated at the lack of info coming from the club with training. Pictures are nice but they lack context, there’s also word there was a time trial but is there any article about who performed well?

Maybe I’ve been spoilt over the years by D-lands track watchers, and ok I don’t want to hear the usual “boys are flying” but just something about how they are handling training in groups or how Ben Brown is fitting in would be nice.

I feel your pain, but I think you’ve summed it up in the second paragraph; we never knew how good we’ve had it.  Was always a highlight to turn up to work  on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday and find 6 pages of demonland training reports waiting for me at my desk.

Most footy fans probably haven’t noticed much of a change though.

Hopefully preseason 2021-22 will see a return of our track-watchers.

Sorry Wellsy. We cant afford to give another year to project players. This is the year it has to come together for finals + or this build is lost. Smith Kozzie Hibberd, TMac and Melk have to start off on the good foot without "a few games " to settle them in.

That Damo is exactly how the footy department should approach this year

Agree completely!!

Cheesy, D., this is probably the most sensible post I have ever read.

Hope you bought tickets in your own lottery DrD. Think  you may well win it!!!

Letssee how your ability this year is up to your normal standards!!!

Cant wait for the season to start !!!

The record needs to be set straight.  JJ's "lack of grit" is a myth.  I've watched him at Casey on numerous occasions and haven't once seen him "lack grit", in fact I've seen the opposite on many occasions.

The claim by Dr. D is just silly.

Agree absolutely BB. Apart from last year, I have seen him live for Casey at least 7 times and Dr D is  full of BS

Project player? Kozzie is still in his teens! The kid had 20 scoring shots in 14 games in his debut year. If he had kicked 13.7 instead of 7.13 there would be no one questioning his value

Looks pretty good to me...

Some people might do well to look at what he brings to the team rather than focus on nit picking negatives.

Hahaha.

Kossie will be unbelievable.

He has every trick a small forward needs, his pressure is brilliant and the only thing stopping him is clearly his tank.

He did things last year that nobody in our side can do in terms of creating openings and chances at scores where normally there'd be none.

He is unreal.

Needs to just find some composure JG when close to goal.

He often has more time than he thinks, but rushes his kicks.  When he does this he is often off balance, running at full pace when dropping the ball and his ball drop is high.

A bit more composure to just slightly decelerate,  when disposing the ball by foot.   This is something IMO which should come with greater exposure at the highest level.

But yes he brings plenty of other things others don't. Really think his link up play to move the ball quickly and break the lines is something special

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
