There is still a half of football to be played. You can only imagine what is going through the minds of the Melbourne players and coaching staff at half time.

Bit of @ss groping no doubt..!!

Lobb is on big money too. What an overrated pretty boy

1. I [censored] hate Gerard Healy. I fair dinkum want to smack him right in the mouth!

2. How does that big streak of pelican [censored] English manage to get through a game of footy without a hair out of place?

3. I think we are tutti fruited unfortunately.

The Dogs have had a dream run this season. To finish 7th is not that much of an achievement given their ridiculously soft travel schedule.

This will get brushed aside by most, but the simply fact is that what you say is true.  They have had a dream run with their travel while other clubs, which include us, have been flying all over the country for weeks on end.  It plays a small part in the overall outcome of their season.

I've seen numerous posters get stuck into Lobb - what did he do?  I'm only keeping an eye on the scores.

They won’t go far in finals. I hope Pies beat Port and they end up in Perth.

His set shot routine is a [censored] nightmare. A Covid patient on a vantilator would have a better chance kicking a goal than this moron.

Don't get me started on travel schedules Jaded.

No other team in the AFL would have got two games in a row at the worst ground to play football at in Australia either side of 4 days.

You did good the AFL, thanks Travis Auld.

Wouldn't see Geelong, Collingwood, Richmond, West Coast or Carlton doing that would you.

This is what i can't stand about AFL football, absolutely no level playing field whatsoever.

Kicked a point from 20 out directly in front.

So the Dees play in hurricane conditions in Cairns and the Dogs get this mild spring night. It’s just not our year.

It's hard to say. I'm no expert, but I think the 'trying really hard' approach might have helped us, but even if I'm wrong, it would have been worth a shot I reckon.

Some kid at uni should do a thesis on this. Give them something to do.

Just heard Bennell left the hub and got on the turps....That will be the end of him!

Why? Because we dropped the last two games of 9 in 43 days? Nothing to do with mental softness. I would say physical exhaustion.

How the phuccck can your assessment of our club be so off to the point that you expect things?

We have been poor defensively and on the spread all year. even in our wins

It won’t be that close.

I agree.

Dockers will win by 6 goals in a canter from here.

Yes I'm insane so leave me alone...

Gawd some posters here look for ANY excuse to absolve what is another shizen MFC Performance

Good teams rise above all else!! That's why we haven't won a flag in 56 years we are MENTALLY SOFT

Do we want to play west coast in perth in an elimination final especially with there crowd? I think of someone like may who has yet to play one and after his season he probably deserves to.

Maybe  playing a final without josh kennedy and some of there other key players potentially missing it could be a good time to get them but I still remember the prelim.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • POSTGAME: West Coast

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.
