But do they run around the ball, run around the contest and dodge tackles?

Not as well.

The helpful analysis here is almost defunct, and those posters who think its clever to bring in some reference to sacking the coach every time they speak offer less than Lee Harvey Oswald at a seminar on the 2nd amendment.

Unless Bennell has had his kicking foot amputated since the Adelaide game, he should’ve got a game this weekend.

I’m damn well sick of the atrocious kicking and decision making of this side at the moment.

I won't come for you if Smith is awful.  I know that he is awful  why can't you see it.   IMO they will play him no matter what now and possibly been told he is playing the last 2 games for his career.

Coz Goodwin doesn't play him where he should...... THE FORWARD LINE FFS

SPARGO FMD

BROWN played Ok in both games then dropped now gets back in ???? Happy to see it but why dropped in the first place??

MELKSHAM say no more ... The love child!

FRITSCH. Still missed easy goals Sheesh

NEAL BULLEN ?? BAKER??

One positive.. Nice to see Nev in side

SERIOUSLY .. We will get flogged.

GOODWIN NFI

First time ever I will be barracking for opposition!!

GAWD AWFUL

Lockhart?  He must be seriously screwed.

Jetta May️ Lever

Salem. Tomlinson. Rivers.

Langdon️ Viney️ Baker

Melksham. Brown. Vberg

Pickett. Weid. Fritsch

Gawn️ Trac️Oliver

Int. ?Hunt   ?J.Smith  ?Neal-Bullen      ?Spargo

Bennell, Lockhart, Sparrow must be considered unlucky.

I just look at the selected side and it appears to be chock full of VFL standard players.

I think many have overrated our list.

If Lockhart is fit, how does he not get in ahead of ANB,  Spargo, Jetta, Baker, Smith, Pickett and Hunt, who is a bit different and I do like.

Lockhart is a solid small forward.. he should be in the team at one end or the other.  It really is ridiculous.

I genuinely believe this.

We have so many holes on our list right now. A big cull is coming our way at the end of the year.

Agree. He tackles. Good pace. Intense. Smothers.  Better than quite a few others.

We need that pressure game to come back. Hunting in packs, sticking tackles, picking up the spilt ball, and in general, getting to the contest. Does Goody call it, playing our "brand"?

Would like to see us dispose efficiently when under pressure, with no clangers and plenty of disposals to advantage.

I don't want us to be competing in the same space against each other. Know where your mates are and help each other.

Bad luck about Hibbs, good Nev gets a run at it. He can create good chemistry with others and is a team first player.

Worried about the forwards. Some high percentage inside 50's conversions will help.

Only 3 changes, at least a little more stability.

The opposition, not much of chance to train, will suffer team structure problems and cohesion due to 8 changes. They will be playing a more natural game, so there should be lots of holes we can take advantage of.

Keep Cameron and Green quiet and we could to steal it.

Though they do have a good looking list.

Do the Dees want it more and are prepared to put their bodies on the line as compared to GWS getting a roll on and playing skilled football?

Bring the pressure, go Dees.

It’s the depth of the list. To many vfl quality players that are unproven at AFL level over several seasons, there is about 6-7 in this weeks team and was the major problem last yr with our long injury list.

He is the worst  player that the club have had in my life time and i have seen some bad one's. He does not cut it on  at this level.

Not even if he played on the forward line. He would have to be a certainty to be delisted or traded  if he is lucky.

He has had 7 Possessions combined the last 2 games, all ineffective.

This thread is about Team selections this week... stick to the script picket!

Bedford gets dropped but not Baker or Pickett. Both their games were as bad as Isaac Weetra's debut!

No one can hit an I50 target to save themselves but Bennell remains out of the team.

Lockhart must have gone back to Tassy and got himself lost in the wilderness.

Hunt, apparently concussed last week, is named in the backline. Fat chance of that happening!

There forward line will smash us in the air. And when it hits the ground Green will beat us. Not confident. Im sure Goodwin is throwing darts at selection. He has no idea who our best 22 are

Their

When we are losing most folks bag the selections like we have stars waiting in the wings that should be selected.
melksham should be dropped. For who? Hannan? Please

we are an average team. The changes made improve our team from last week

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

From the start, Melbourne’s performance against the Gold Coast Suns at Peoples First Stadium was nothing short of a massive botch up and it came down in the first instance to poor preparation. Rather than adequately preparing the team for battle against an opponent potentially on the skids after suffering three consecutive losses, the Demons looking anything but sharp and ready to play in the opening minutes of the game. By way of contrast, the Suns demonstrated a clear sense of purpose and will to win. From the very first bounce of the ball they were back to where they left off earlier in the season in Round Three when the teams met at the MCG. They ran rings around the Demons and finished the game off with a dominant six goal final term. This time, they produced another dominant quarter to start the game, restricting Melbourne to a solitary point to lead by six goals at the first break, by which time, the game was all but over.

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

Coming off four consecutive victories and with a team filled with 17 AFL listed players, the Casey Demons took to their early morning encounter with the lowly Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium with the swagger of a team that thought a win was inevitable. They were smashing it for the first twenty minutes of the game after Tom Fullarton booted the first two goals but they then descended into an abyss of frustrating poor form and lackadaisical effort that saw the swagger and the early arrogance disappear by quarter time when their lead was overtaken by a more intense and committed opponent. The Suns continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter and got out to a three goal lead in mid term before the Demons fought back. A late goal to the home side before the half time bell saw them ten points up at the break and another surge in the third quarter saw them comfortably up with a 23 point lead at the final break.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.
