Four Injured Horsemen

Featured Replies

Since the competition resumed from the first Covid-19 lockdown in June there has been one constant at the club: the four players who’s status on the club injury list has remained pretty much static. They are:-

Marty Hore (toe and quad) – indefinite
Harry Petty (groin) – indefinite
Kade Kolodjashnij (head) – indefinite
Aaron Nietschke (knee) – season

Young Nietschke has been that way for almost his entire journey at the club since he was drafted in late 2018, having suffered two ACL’s. We’re not expecting to see him back until next season.

Kolodjashnij‘s concussion/head injuries have been well documented. He’s highly thought of at the club but his  long term health is paramount and my guess is that he is a likely retirement at the end of 2020.

But what of the other two? We’ve heard little about their rehabilitation and with six matches to go in this season of a compacted fixture, it would seem that time is running out.

Does anyone know where Hore and Petty stand in terms of their expected return to full training and playing games of football?

Also it will be interesting if they follow through on the pledge to give Nietschke a new deal if the list sizes are cut.

Would like to know more about Pettys injury and when he will be back.  Does anyone know how or when he injured it?

Someone on the board said a groin? Done for the year.

Probably doesn’t make a difference but I reckon that once a player is deemed to be unable to play at all for the remainder of the year, the proper designation should be “season” and not “indefinite”.

I think there was a club report in June / July saying they'd reassessed Petty's groin issue & agreed that surgery was the next step. I guess other treatments hadn't achieved the desired results. You would expect mid year groin surgery would most likely put a line through him for the season

Would be nice to get an update on Petty. Surgery was close to two months ago and haven't heard anything since. Hopefully he is progressing in rehab and on track to tackle day 1 of preseason. I believe he's out of contract as well so would be good to sign him up before Adelaide come sniffing.

No one has seen him in weeks, missing persons report?

Thought I saw Petty at either the North or Collingwood game.

I saw both Hore and Petty with the rest of the playing group on the race at the end of the Collingwood game. So they are in the hub. Not sure about the other two.

probably not much to report - either stationary bike or running laps - maybe on a big day both.  if list sizes are cut all but Hore would be in trouble.  Hore has shown he can play AFL level

Petty showed plenty and we should look to get him right for 2021. This year is a bust.

Hore is a player. Behind Lever but very handy 3rd tallish defender.

Neitscke has been horribly unlucky. Two knee reconstructions. Like to see what he can do if and when fit. Hope we hold him and honour the pledge.

Kk - yes his health and ongoing wellbeing is the priority. Serious issues from multiple concussions. He had big potential but should retire at end of 2020.

Agree on all counts. KKs health is the priority, and if the right decision is made sets a good precent for future players and parents. Reach a deal that could help set him up in some Club role for his future.
