Get him off easy street in the media to have a crack at this pile of rabbits droppings of a club

If he gives two hoots he’ll have a crack, apparently was brilliant coaching the all stars back in the day.

Has a fantastic footy brain & a brilliant captain of the club

Unless we can get Clarko ?

Yeah umm no.

The last time he was involved seriously with the club, he brought Mark Neeld in.

Garry is a passionate MFC supporter, but he should be nothing more or nothing less.

"Selecting coaches is the toughest job of all," Lyon said. "I won't apologise for the decision ever. That is life. Unfortunately it didn't work."

Translation: "My decision and the selection criteria were perfectly fine. It was the other guy who was crap."

Got sucked in by the hype for Neeld in the media and Malthouse recommending Neeld, undermining Buckley by unloading assistant coaches before their coaching handover.
There we're also a couple other clubs in the market for a coach at the time which made us a little too forken jumpy.

I really like Garry in the media. He clearly understands and articulates our problems on field, whereas I listened to some absolute dribble from Derm today that made me think he hasn’t watched a single Melbourne game all year.

But there is no chance he is coaching Melbourne.

STAY AWAY GARRY YOU ALREADY RUINED US BY CHOOSING BAILEY AND NEELD WE DON'T NEED YOU YOU FENCE SITTER!

He has one the prerequisites for being a successful coach ... What does he have in common with the following multiple premiership coaches - Clarkson, Malthouse, Blight, Matthews? Yep, he's a total #%@ .

You don’t need a good bloke matey mate with the players, these blokes are soft and need a hard  *rs* coach like Clarkson, Lyon or if willing Lyon.

But no we will end up with Yze r the like

One of the smartest footy brains out there, worth a chat.... IMO it would be something Gary thinks about considerably.
A great of the MFC, excellent leader.

Rubbish he's a [censored] fence sitter. He's done enough to ruin the club. NO MORE!

I dint think so. Coaches work hard for years to get a senior position. It is too late for him, could have maybe 10 years ago, but chose the media career.

Can we please not back the truck over the whole Lyon/Neeld thing again? It's been done to death and those who have had the whole situation explained to them and are still banging on about it are just stubborn nuffies.

Garry has always said he doesn't have the abilities or passion to coach an AFL team, it's not going to happen. I'm also not sure why he seems to be the one former player Melbourne people are obsessed with as far as their involvement with the club goes.

IF (and it's a big if) we are looking for a new coach next year it could only be:

1) Ross Lyon

2) Clarko with Yze as successor

No way MFC goes for another untried coach straight up.

How can he be a fence sitter and and have made decisions to ruin the club?

You're either pregnant or your not.

stick to posting team line ups

Choosing Bailey ahead of Sheedy and choosing Neeld. He brought the club to it's knees. The biggest know nothing footballer of all time. Just ask him it wasn't his fault couldn't be.

FFS he was asked for advice, that may have been rubbish but the buck stops with the decision makers at the club at the time. Schwab, the Board and Jimmy have to wear those decisions. To me when looking for the root cause for that disastrous period I always end up looking at Schwab, Connelly to some extent and unfortunately Jimmy who didn’t realise Schwab was a toxic influence on recruiting and football operations.

Don't tell me Lyon didn't choose the coach? It simply isn't true. He was the main man Jimmy went looking to.

Garry had already said he didn't have the experience or knowledge to be involved, then his dying best mate asked him to step in.

You're criticizing him for that with pretty over the top language. That's a pathetic effort IMO.

You may be right but Lyon to my knowledge was not on the board or employed in the FD, he was asked to provide a consulting role to advise on coach selection. Consultants advise, management ultimately wears the decision. By the way I can’t remember all the detail but I was comfortable with the Bailey appointment, I reckon he could coach but was under resourced and undermined by Schwab and I still believe the Neeld appointment was influenced by Schwab who wanted a newby he could control. No way he would have accepted a Sheedy appointment in my opinion. In short the problem was Schwab and his interference in the FD, specifically in coaching appointments and draft selections.

He should not have done it. he brought the club to it's knees he showed there and then that he knows nothing about football picking those 2 he should have learned the first time choosing Bailey. He is someone we don't need at the club and should steer way clear of.

He was a great player and most people like yourself can't get past that but he knows nothing about the modern game.

Garry didn’t pick Bailey. A Panel including Nathan Burke made that call

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
