6 Viney. He was in the kitchen all night. Great contested footy. Tackles. Clearances.  Hit targets. Great goal in the last.  Definitely our best. Huge heart.

5 Oliver.  If only he had Pendlebury style disposal.  He’s a beast. Contested footy and tackling were A grade. A few clangers definitely let us down. Work needed but his effort was huge.

4 May. Stopped any influence from Hipwood. Continues to be our defensive General.

3 Langdon. Good run and carry. Hit targets.
I think they could use him more.

2 Salem. Steady. Hit targets. A good link through midfield.

1 Gawn  Not a big influence but his second effort was good. Needs protection from umps and teammates. Lions were physical on him all night.

apologies -
Lever was good again.  Now in form and key part of defence.  Lockhart has a good game. Solid. Trac was okay but was perhaps expecting more. Maybe a vote.
Melksham can at least kick straight unlike a few others (Weideman!!!! ).

Gawn was definitely in our best 6 tonight.  Position by position he was the only midfielder who wasn't beaten by his Brisbane counterpart over the entirety of the game.  Neale, Lyons, Zorko, McLuggage pretty much had their way tonight. Whilst it wasn't one of Max's stellar performances he was very good again.  Viney's effort was outstanding after half time and Oliver had his moments as well, despite some less than average disposal early. Tracc played just a game by his now lofty standards, just the one mark and no score. But as a group they lowered their colours.  I'll be really interested in the coaches view of this one.  I reckon a defender or two might pop up.

The reality is our midfield was well beaten.  Brisbane read the ball better of the ruck, out-pressured us, were cleaner than us, and moved faster than us.

Our midfielders shouldn't be figuring heavily in the votes, but as individuals you can justify they had a good game (which if you think about, is probably part of the problem).  I found it hard to leave them out as well.

The Lions also played the umpires better than us, with 10 meter kicks and grabbing/tackling players before possession of the ball.

Petracca 7 Viney 4 in coaches votes.

Clearly Viney was our best. Daylight. Tough. 460 metres gained. Numerous 1%s. Great goal in the last qtr.

Petracca was good but not dominant and didn’t punish with his disposals.
