Hard to say this but Carlton have gone right past us as a football team since we towelled them up in the first quarter of round 2.

Smart recruiting and a coach that plays players to their strengths.

They've sped right right past us alright.

@Whispering_Jack and @dazzledavey36 I don't mean to make fun of you but the example is here.

Until Gunston's late goal we were above Carlton on the ladder, with a game in hand.

Have we now "gone right past" GWS?

Need the Crows to get their first win tomorrow night and beat St Kilda... theres a logjam in the middle of the table and the Saints are one of the teams there with us.

Freo's season over. Hope we get them in the Alice.

We would be looking okay if we had beaten the Cats. Big game next week.

Go Crows !!

Did I hear correctly that Doedee is captain this week for the crows? He has played 21 games.

they are in MFC 2013 type trouble.
the crouch brothers, walker etc all playing

they're warming him up for geelong to poach him

I'm a bit conflicted about tonights game. Although it might be good for us if the Saints tripped up the thought of Adelaide having a 0-17 season does warm the heart.

Party pooper ?

Hard to believe that this round started on Thursday night and between then and now, they’ve announced 1,200 new cases of COVID-19 in Victoria.

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • POSTGAME: West Coast

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.
