Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I also don't understand how people don't want to go after Daniher?

He's a FA and we could get his body right

or we could pay significant coin to a player who, on a reduced list of 35, has shown zero ability to get on the park for the last two years

i still think he's headed north

I wouldn't want us to pay big coin for him - that might be where the deal will fall through.

Bennell couldn't get onto the park for 4 years? Still took a risk

I just don't see why we wouldn't throw our hand up and express interest

Would love to know what our salary cap looks like.
We spent big on Lever / May, how much of that was front loaded.
Many fans still citing we need a key defender and a key forward, we still lack midfield class.

Thoughts on Harry Himmelberg as a fwd option?

Just now, whatwhatsaywhat said:

fogarty just did his shoulder unfortunately

he might be another in a long list of player's whose body is simply not made for the rigours of afl-level football

Your kidding.

Well, that might help us, he may want a change,  from the downward direction of the crows in a rebuild period.

Not enough upside - could see him go in and out of the team

I just don't get why we don't play Weed or Jacko deep and get games into them

His,  Daniher's stories don't ring true.  So we Demonlanders smell something that is uncomfortably bullish.

I was checking out Harry's stats just last week 'BA';  with this view.?

I saw him as a cheap gettable option. Kicked roughly 30 in 2018 and 40 in 2019.

I’d be playing Weed all season if fit but we’re not. You would think he’ll leave at years end if that is still the case.

Whilst I don’t think Jackson will need years to influence a game, he will be managed this year, not quite ready.

agh, but what about as CHB.?   swing man.

We need a running key back who will draw opponents ahead of him,  and skilled enough to layoff to a teammate, to advance the ball.

What are our options?
Weed will likely leave for nothing at years end.
Throwing a truck of cash at someone is one thing, getting them to the club is another.

Term of contract,  money,  and negotiating with GWS.?

I still would be to rushed to jettison Weide.  This is the first time he has had a decent injury free entry into the season, and its a carp season.  His body is just starting to appear manly so IMV he's just entering his productive time.   He's contracted to end of next year.

And I would honor Weide's contract; and try to extend next season.  If he starts to show his stuff.

Now we are appearing like we are going to free up quite a bit of salary cap space this end of season.  For Whom.?

We must build the list every season.   Make savings elsewhere.

But to fall behind others in our area of ladder development, is to give up.

CHB is an issue,  and I don't think Lever is it,  not do I think Smith.  Both Lever and Smith to me are tweeners.  Utlity's.

I want an attacking CHB like peter knights did back in the day. with modern subtleties.  Maybe the Hardeman comparison is more apt.?  But not a 197 cm beanstalk...  but a low centre of gravity strong build,  who can run all day and hit targets.

We don't have to literally build the list every year. I want to but I'm also thinking long-term and I'd rather hold out a year then rush someone in. We can still build the list by backing players in and cutting the dead wood.

yes we all want types but they are either snapped up early or don't grow into that role until year 5/6.

Yes of course,  and If we cannot get an upgrade on our picks, we need to trade some in.

One type was Rivers,  another type was Jackson

One other type, I'd like is PWright.  That heavy ruck/forward who would hope can use his body weight to effect.

Tmac and Pwright are way too top heavy.

With the covid 19 tight financial impact, I think AFL lists would be cut to 40 by start of 2021 (37 + 3 rookies)

Gawn (c) Viney (VC) Oliver. Petracca. May. Harmes. Brayshaw. Melksham. Fritsch. Jetta. Lever. Langdon. Tomlinson. Salem. Tmcd.

Preuss  Hannan Hore Hunt Lockhart

Injury queries - 2020 a must year - J.Smith# Vandenburg# Bennell#

Developing - Petty Sparrow Bedford Jackson Pickett  Rivers Jordan Nietschke (r)

Hold onto  (but need to show more) - Weideman   omcd Hibberd Brown

(35)

trade - ANB

likely retire - Jones

Likely delist. KK. Dunkley Spargo. Cwagner. Baker JWagner. Chandler.  Bradtke

Add 5 more (3 main list + 2 rookies)

Not as a combo  MF-c.

Wright to play deep pocket with someone like Hunt at FF,  and a small.   TMc can get back to his old playing weight,  play high,  or leave.

My vision,  ideally would be for Wright in pocket alongside Weide, who would be the lead-out FF.  Picket about them.   A mobile smallish CHF (think Ryan Okeefe) playing high.   And speed on the flanks.

I watched the Crows match earlier. Himmelberg needs a lot of development. Still not agile enough. Big but inactive type.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
