  • Demonland changed the title to GAMEDAY: Demons vs Fremantle (2008)

Was thinking about this weekend's game that isn't.

My belief is that we would have lost to GWS and would be going into this game 0-2.

With a possibly wet MCG the Freo game would be a slog.

Do we win and if so what is the margin

I say we win by 14 points and limp on.

Entertaining match, especially the second half. Coming into that round 7 match we haven’t had a win but you look at the side it is not that bad. Rivers, Garland, Frawley, Warnock and Bartram down back( Whelan injured), Robbo, Miller, Green, Flash and Wonna up forward. White and Jamar rucking with Brock McClean, Jones, Junior Mac, Maloney with support from Bruce, Wheatley etc. Not a great side but not horrible either. Of course other agendas may have been in play of course.

Of course the great Connolly and Cam Schwab (dirty duo) were at play as they started the “better to lose” mentality.  Ridiculous times that killed careers and reputations.  Bailey never had a chance.

Not often I wonder “why am I here?”. There was about 15k at the ground - it was putrid and so were we in the first half. I was very tested in my resolution of never leaving before final siren - the Bullring looked warm and comfortable.

Was speaking to an ex Melbourne staff member about this game a couple of weeks ago - how good is footy!

This and a Brisbane game around same time are vivid memories.

Give it a effing rest

I’ve got a feeling Freo will jump out of the gates early. Need to be within 4-5 goals during the third qtr if we’re a snow flakes chance in hell of getting our first win of the season.

Stuck at home like everyone else  yesterday,I  watched the first(terrible) half while on the exercise bike.

Today 'I'm looking forward to a pleasant hour on the bike again, knowing  it's going to be much more fun to watch!

Go Ozzie!

Are many past matches available on Demonland?

I was at this game. I have never left any game before full time and this one never gave me an inkling to; I was completely inured to another defeat and going home on the train trying not to make eye contact with anyone. Even when we kicked a few goals in the third, I had seen it all before; late rally after being putrid and going down by 20 points or so. I still could not make eye contact on the way home with anyone; I was still in shock.

remember this game well, particularly when Junior quickly kicked the ball out of the centre to the bronx cheers (i was a part of them). Half time came and Dad wondered if we should go, to which i replied that i had nothing better to do on a Sunday arvo. Bloody glad we stayed lol.

The most uneventful game i've attended has to be the Sunday twilight game at the G against the Crows, where it was so cold it felt like being at Waverley and the game so boring you had no chance of warming up. That was truly a waste of an afternoon at the footy.

Love Dennis Commetti

They all played their guts out in the second half, I enjoyed that game at the time and I really enjoyed every second of that second half this time around..............!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I enjoyed watching this match also. We had many chances to win this game. I'm not looking forward to seeing the match against St Kilda. Let's hope they don't show the replay when we played them the first time in 2015.

Bate came good after half time, and played a significant role in our comeback.

I'm not sure how  much time Morton was on the ground,,but he only had a couple of useful touches.

There you have the OMac and ANB of their era....any excuse to rubbish them was gleefully accepted

JW was in between.

More importantly it kills culture...that takes far longer the build and repair than a few players.

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
