Maybe a couple of issues to still work through, but it is moving forward and from what I hear is happening.

Not the best time to get State Government assistance of course, but the community aspect is helping.

Unless something blows it up, I expect the Dees to be training there in 2028.

As to the announcement, that is up to the club of course to pick the best time and and AGM seems pretty suitable with a new Coach, CEO and President.

to be training there in 2028 - as in the ovals will be ready by then?

seems awfully quick to get the buildings built

If they can turn the first sods early next year, then running on an oval for preseason 28 is quite feasible. I can only imagine the "building" will be composite tilt slab and steel skeleton.

We're not building a shopping mall here.

Where's a will there's a way. A servo can be up and running in 6 months.

It's all about project management

i'll take it

as others have said, it ain't the taj mahal - office buildings / fancy gym combo

Actually it is not up to the Club to pick a time about an announcement on Caulfield. They will not be able to say anything meaningful until the State Government says they can. This has been the position for as long as the project has been worked on. Yes, it is getting closer, and yes it is entirely appropriate to update members at the AGM, but any defintive announcement will only emerge when the State Government says it can.

Sorry.. unless the state is paying for this ... which i doubt. Then I'm at a loss as to their control. ?

I think you have had a flashback to gary pert's favourite excuse for no progress in the MCG precinct. Different project now.

That is my estimation, as if it is green lit say next month, it should all be finished in two years.

I don’t know the actual planned buildings, but if the main one was 5 floors high, my estimation allows more time than needed.

Anyway, first we need the announcement and I am unsure if it is being dictated by the State Government.

Any word on which pocket of the racecourse it will be built on Redleg? I think the proposed site has changed three times already. Across from Caulfield station would be great.

South East Corner, closest to where the ovals will be built.

That area is close to Glenhuntly station and if you walked from Caulfield station, through the Eastern/closest tunnel to the ovals, would be less than 5 minutes.

Was that a line in Monty Python 😎

If it wasn't DJ it should have been. If the boys at MP created an episode about the MFC's inability to lock down a home we would have found it to be very funny. But here we are and it is not funny at all. More like very sad.

Panic not ye of little faith.

It's far from panic Mr Leg. It's only taken us half a century with no success. I will believe it when I see it.

That's what I thought, but I have been corrected.

Its back at the 2nd option, which is FAR better than the original one, in size, access, shape and transport options.

While the 3rd option is close to Caulfield station, maybe it was too close to the MRC facilities for their liking.

The 2nd option, the South east Corner, is about the furthest from the grandstands and MRC facilities and maybe that is all for the better.

It is also far from the school, not that they were concerned at all, as they are totally with us and supporting us and are excited by the MFC as a neighbour and that is from the horses mouth, pardon the pun.

With the amount of overseas students at Monash Caulfield, living in the newly constructed plethora of apartments, the MRC membership and to a much lesser extent with the school, we also have the chance to grab some new supporters and members, with maybe a joint MFC/MRC membership being attractive to some.

Thanks Red... I agree.. SE location is the better of all options .

It is the only stand alone option of the three that have been mooted.

The first to me always seemed impractical.

The buildings can be totally fenced off from the rest of the area, excluding the ovals of course, with it's own separate access to the adjoining streets being Neerim Road and Queens Parade.

Absolutely agree. Create own little precinct.

So what are the odds there will be an announcement at the AGM? I have gone to the last 6+ years hopeful of a result. Nil zip, zero has been the result. It's a bit like our player drafting results. Hopeful but not confident. Even if a plan is agreed then money then has to be found. I cannot see any coming from the state government they are broke. How much will the Federal government supply? I struggle to see us using it before 2030 at the earliest.

Hope we get a decision soon. Birthday tomorrow and I will be well past the use by date very soon, my wife will take me out of the fridge and toss me away !

Bring it on !

That's a huge project if there is not government funding. Both State and Federal governments have partially funded all other AFL ground developments in Victoria. That's why we have to wait....

The government may or may not contribute.

It's NOT their build, not their property, not their asset.

In reality the MFC and what it does is nothing of the State Govs concern.

This ISNT a big build. It's not.

Shopping centres cost more.. I rail crossing removal... costs more...

Im personally very doubtful there's any timing controlled by the government.

Im given to understand the bulk of the money needed is already vouched for...and not government.

We've never been a fav destination for Gov money.... no votes 😉

I’m told the financial modelling has already been confirmed which is a mixture of State, Federal, Club, Benefactors and A significant naming rights sponsorship. The racecourse trust have given their approvals. We are awaiting on contracts being signed and there is no set timeline for that. This is the announcement we will hear at the AGM, unless something progressed prior too which I doubt.

Just to clarify and no offence intended as I enjoy your intel. But “Everything is agreed but there’s no set time line to sign contracts” sounds like a kind of contradiction. There must be something holding things up for signing not to be happening? Or am I missing something?

Can't wait to see the The Demonland Centre up and running.

So in effect nothing concrete no pun intended.
