Viney is on AVB's left - in the right of screen:)

Pretty sure it's Chandler, and lockhart in the first photo, not bedford

You could not get a perfect example of a perfect tackling technique right here. Both arms wrapped fully around and locked on.

This is why Vanders is like an enforcer in our side. His physicality and brute power was sorely missed throughout 2019. Watch the first half of his 2018 game against West Coast in round 23 when he set the tone with his tackling.

And got royally screwed by the biased dog umpires.

I'd like to see Dusty try the "don't argue" on Vanders on ANZAC Eve. It won't happen though, Dusty is too smart for that.

Great example and if the momentum of that tackle took them both players forward as seems likely, the maggots would pay in the back! That is why I believe tackles should be judged for legality on where they start, not where they finish.

I think Hannan is always going to be a week to week proposition for us now,  with his knee issue.

Thanks Doc. Can you have a look at my lower back?

Worst call I have ever seen.

Looking back its actually quite amazing how Vandenberg jumped straight back up arguing with the umpire while the WC was on the ground in pain.

As your earlier comments and the one above both alude to, being awarded the free kick or not is almost just the icing on top, but the physical presence and pressure that gets applied through these acts is priceless in so far as the impact it has on the opposition's psyche.

Where can we access this AVB tackling exhibition to refresh the memories? I was just thinking about tacklers specifically - and I am really missing Frosty, in that (and all) regard(s). May, Frost, AVB, Preusse - what a tackle tag team we'd have ... throw in Trac, Harmes and Sparrow and you'd be constantly delighted.

No not perfect as opponent got the ball away to his teammate running into goal!!

Need to pin those arms.

It's also a fact that both kk and harley reached the mfc on the back of medical reports that suggested a new miracle cure for recurring / career ending issues. Kk had new medically identified neck issues that caused his head to wobble too much while harley had newly identified nerve issues that tickled his calf muscles. I'm fairly confident both players also had their fair share of other medical reports that said they had little hope of an AFL career.  You may be aware,  Freo already sent him to world renowned German soft tissue experts without luck. That's not to say l don't want him too make it. He can play, comes cheap, and helps to sell hope.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
