Sounds like blues want Kemp but don’t think he’s a pick 11, looking to trade down...

AFL Twitter has come to life:  Cal Twomey's intel suggests the Blues' bidding spree is an attempt to buy time as they look for a pick swap... foiled by GWS who matched the bid quickly and started the clock on the next trade \.

Edit:  Carlton swapped with GCS who now have pick 11 who selected Flanders.  (Gold Coast receive picks No.11 and 62 from Carlton for picks No.17 and 22).   Good deal for Carlton!

Apparently all Clubs run 1000's of scenarios on the draft, all except for Carlton who seem not to have had any idea what to do once Stephens was taken at 5...

Gold coast are building a nice midfield

Speak for yourself.

Freo massive winners with Young, Serong and Henry. Two top 5 rated players leading up to the draft and Henry who looks pretty special.

GC with Rowell, Anderson and Flanders also big winners. Again three top 5 players leading up to the draft.

Well thought through Mat

For those wondering why we didn't bring in Kemp (i am admittedly one of them), 10 clubs over 17 picks thought he was not worth enough of a gamble to take him.

Time will tell.

Robertson still on the board at 20!?! Can we trade up and steal him??

Carlton has traded picks 11 and 62 for 17 and 22 from Gold Coast.

Any idea how Carlton got live pick 20?

Pick 22 was the pick in the swap being GCS's end of first round pp pick from the AFL?  Was there another swap somewhere?  A swap with Port at some stage, they haven't used what was pick 18 and now have pick 22?

Swapped with Port.

From AFL.com.au

"Another pick swap for Carlton! The Blues receive pick 20 from Port Adelaide, while giving up picks 22 and 55."

Shocked Robertson is still up for grabs

Some unlikely names still on the board. Apart from Robertson, there's Worrell, Harrison Jones, Trent Rivers, Will Gould, Elijah Taylor, Jeremy Sharp & Dylan Williams still there. Wow.

I thought the Tiges might go for a young CHB type key tall.  Harri Jones, or other?

# Will Gould, I thought the Hawks took him.  But no, they got Will Day?

Wayward kicking for goal, dump kicks inside 50 and some baffling umpiring all contributed to the Dees not getting out to an an early lead that may have impacted the result. At the end of the day the Demons were just not good enough and let the Hawks run away with their first win against the Demons in 7 years.

  • NON-MFC: Round 09

Round 9 kicks off out west with the Dockers hosting a Collingwood side resting several stars. Fremantle need to make a statement on their home deck after some disappointing form on the road, while the Magpies will be keen to maintain their Top 2 position. Friday night sees a must-win clash between two sides desperate to stay in touch with the eight. St Kilda have shown glimpses while Carlton are clinging to relevance after a flat start to the season. Saturday’s twilight game at Marvel pits the Bombers against a struggling Sydney outfit. Essendon can’t afford another close match against a lower-ranked side, while the Swans risk sliding down the ladder even further. Up in Darwin, the fourth-placed Suns will look to extend their stay in the top four. The Bulldogs have hit their stride with three big wins on the trot and will be very keen to consolidate on their momentum. The always fiery Showdown looms as pivotal for both clubs. Adelaide are eyeing a spot in the Top 4 with a win, while Port Adelaide’s season could slip away if they drop another game and fall further behind the pack. Sunday begins with a yawn fest between Richmond and West Coast. The Tigers need to bank the points to stay clear of the bottom two, while the Eagles are still chasing their first win of the year. The Giants face one of the league’s toughest road trips as they travel to GMHBA Stadium to face the Cats. With GWS at risk of a third straight loss, Geelong will be eager to consolidate their position inside the eight and start their climb up the ladder. The round wraps up with the top-of-the-table Lions heading to Ninja Stadium to take on the second-last Roos. The Lions should easily take care of the struggling Roos who might be powerless against the best in the comp. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?
